Dang, this is what I saw the real advantage to being. The reason I don't like the high is because of wind resistance, the reason I don't like the low is too low for RTT and the annex room underneath to stand up. But it is feasible right? Oh well, great design, I like being able to use the RTT. I will definitely get one in the spring, just need to figure out which one suits my needs.

It's definitely feasible, but it won't be super fast, especially with a tent attached to it..

Center some sort of bottle jack with a plate on it underneath, loosen bolts, jack up, tighten bolts. I wouldn't want to mess with it without some sort of solution like this.

For anything that long we would definitely suggest the long bed rack, even if the truck is short bed.

I actually made a bracket for the back of my bed and I have a rack for my cab. I also have a 17’ kayak. Spreading the distance helps stabilizing 17’. Are these definitely in the works? If so I’m definitely interested

The backflip cover is clean and sleek. To add your racks would be awesome! I know you can crack it!

Hi, there. I've been trying to find a good rack for overlanding gear (specifically for accomodating an RTT, but also for mounting mountain bikes) and can work w/ the DiamondBack HD cover I have on a 3rd gen short bed Tacoma. If this works with the DiamondBack cover, then I think I've found what I've been looking for. As you may know, to use said cover, there're small additions to the factory Tacoma left & right side bedrails as they're positioned; however, the rail locations haven't been moved. Would this new rack system still work w/ the DiamondBack HD cover set up?

I can't see why that cover wouldn't work with our rack. The factory accessory rail hasn't been moved, so it's just a matter of fitting our attachment bracket under the cover.

This is what the bracket looks like:

These things are stupid simple and incredibly useful. I use the Harbor freight one. Was about $45 with coupons and sales. Worth it just to keep around. 30 second install. Use it for long things in the bed or to pass over the cab. Or just to support long items over the tailgate.

Damn. Just seeing this thread. Too late for me to submit my wishlist but I'll try.

Any chance to put a front-to-back rail at the top of the side vertical supports? Then make the horizontal cross bars position adjustable / slide backwards and forwards?

This would keep the side to side support but still allow the rear or front cross bar to be slid back and forth to accommodate a tall item without removing the whole rack.

I love the idea of combining this with a soft topper!

Do you have a link to the harbor freight one? I'm having trouble finding it.

It only works with covers that leave the factory accessory rail in the factory location.

Some Bakflip covers relocate them with a drop bracket.
