How are the eyes doing Gary?

Humm, looks like the Army has now rescinded the proposal that I had mentioned, after the article in USA Today was published and brought it to light.

The eyes do not have sharp vision. Too much astigmatism and apparently some near sightedness.

I have an appointment with opthamologist on Dec. 6th. to learn if they have improved or stabilized. If there is no improvement I get to choose between a LASIK touch up (out of pocket) or wear eyeglasses.

Deer gun season opens day after tomorrow in Alabama and I had high hopes of having better vision by then. Guess I will just crank a little more magnification into my riflescope.

I thought the process you went through would solve the problem, hopefully it's now just a healing process you are going through.
Might just need to refocus the scope, then maybe turn the magnification up if that doesn't work!
Good luck with the deer hunting!

Cataract surgery does not correct your vision. It replaces the cloudy lens over your eye with a clear one.
had both eyes done, still farsighted but can see clearly now.

Two toes broken. the third or middle toe is healing well. The fourth toe is not healing so I am now in a stabilizing shoe trying to isolate the toe to begin mending.

    OUCH!
I think you need to start wearing steel toe boots when you go to bed, strange how things you would never expect have a way of happening.

    Carl and Tom,

Thanks for the well wishes about the eyes and bagging a deer.

Tom, I sure hope your toes heal soon. I cannot imagine bumping into something with your foot right now.

Good morning all bigg coffee.jpg , coffee time.

Hope all works out for you Gary, I go back to the eye doc the end of March to see if I need the surgery:confused:. They told the missus the same thing. Reputable eye docs but think it might be them lining their pockets at insurance companies expense(and mine):annoyed:.

OUCHH! Tom, you really did a number on the toes. Take care and be careful walking in the dark.

    X2 :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

These days they put in a lens that corrects your vision. You may still need reading glasses but distance vision should be good to go. I have several friends who put their glasses away after cataract surgery.

I have talked to quite a few people who were able to drop the eyeglasses after cataract lens implants including my father (deceased now.). The others only needed readers and of course a few needed distance correction.

I agree that the lens implants frequently have distance correction.

Either way, I can see better than I could with the cataracts so I am happy.

    Dave, Fred,

They can implant a multifocal IOL (intraocular lens). It's a newer "deluxe" type of IOL that can correct for distance and near vision. Unfortunately Medicare and most insurance companies won't pay for it .... so I'm told.

I was amazed how clear everything looked after cataract surgery, a yellow haze had developed so gradually I did not know it was present.

You are correct. I can't remember the total out of pocket cost for the multi focal IOL, but it was substantial so I passed.
