I'm new to tacoma world, I have a 06 regular cab tacoma, I do some moderately difficult wheeling, at the limits of my stock suspension. I don't have much to spend and was looking at bilstein lifts, are they any good or should I save for icon, toytec, or king? I do plan on running a bumper and winch but that won't be for a while

If he sets the Billies to the top notch (he has a reg cab I4) he'll get at least 3.5" - and destroy his CV joints in no time flat

I almost forgot to mention how terribly it'll ride too

Stick with max 3" suspension lift. You're on the right track with the Billy 5100s. Read around the I4 reg cab threads to see what lift other people are getting at each setting. The lift heights listed by Billstein are averages, and most people buy V6 4 door 4x4 Tacomas (much heavier than yours).

I don't necessarily need 3.5" lift however I do feel like I would like to be between 2.5"-3" I understand if I run bilstein on the max setting it'll ride too stiff, what about their adjustable co's though?

Bilstein makes quality products for relatively cheap.

I wouldn't touch anything cheaper though.

In my mind it's all about coil springs since you want bumpers later. I went with Old Man Emu shocks and springs. I like to wheel. I regret pinching pennies. All I think about when wheeling is how I wish I spent a little more the first time and did Icon/Fox/King/ADS.

Not a lot of down travel left at 3.5" and the alignment will be horrible without upper control arms.
"At least" 3.5"?? o_O Is it common for reg cab guys to do this??

At the 1.75" setting, I got 2.5" on my V6 4x4 Access Cab.

If you're wheeling I say save up for the suspension that's meant for it. I went cheaper the first time and when I upgraded to icons, I wish I had that money back. Buy once cry once.

mainly more than anything, i just want more flex, and an improved ride quality, currently my stock shocks are toast, so almost anything will be better. I do plan on getting TC uca's as well,

I don't think your ride quality will improve at all with such a lift and close to zero down travel.

I can attest to that. I just bought a DCLB 4x4 with stock suspension and toytec 3" spacer lift. Rides like crap, but I have an excuse to upgrade my suspension. Just need to find something I can afford that gives me about 2.5" lift and a good ride (travel). No spacers.

I'm open to ideas, in my situation what would you suggest? I do intend to lift the truck, after some research I decided I don't need much lift, I want more ground clearance, and hopefully if I spend the right way, a good ride.

I suggest u go 6 inches rough country, icon or bds , u want clearance go with those, I’ve been in friends tacoma with 6 inch rough country and there stiff a a mother but great clearance over rocks, plenty of flex too
I have a 3 inch lift bilstiens all around, icon UCA, OME coils, bf Goodrich ko2 275/70/17, no trimming needed; rubs at full turn when I got people inside in reverse; flexing is ok not as much as u want but better than stock, I went with this set because more covenant for the fam
