Yep I found out now what it is. Definitely a nice one to hold onto. And definitely not going to be used in the bush like I planned

I don't know... life's too short NOT to use it. It can always be polished back up. I'd rather build a lifetime of good memories out of it, unless you're just using it as an investment. Might be worth double in about 30 years, but what's the fun in that? I say wear and use it with pride.

How would you get it polished the same again? Cause there is a slight scruff on the tip I'd love to get rid of.

And that is true. But I have other fixed blades that for better in hand and have a better spine for striking fire steel.

I might use it for other tasks. But not like I'll start batoning with it etc

anything else I'd prob do it myself basically with rubbing compound start with some 600grit and keep working it down to the finest grit sandpaper you can get...10,000 grit or higher. BUT seeing this is a quality knife Id contact the company or guy that made it rather and see if he could re-polish as he knows what he's doing ;)

Read up on Wicked Edge, Lansky, and other sharpening systems. Basically, you profile the edge then sharpen it.

For heirloom quality blades, I’d contact the maker.

Buffing wheel with the right compound might do the trick, but like others said, contact them about the best method for their steel.

    Damn my pic sucked!

I like the knife. I got it used for cheap. It was easy to sharpen. I can slice paper and take curves in the slices. It is crazy light. You can’t feel it hooked to your pocket at all. It opens and closes super smooth. The blade is light, so it is easier to flick open than it is to flip closed.

I just got it. I opened a lot of dog food bags, + some boxes. It is holding a great edge. I don’t know about durability, but I aim to find out. The color is a bit shocking in blue. But I won’t lose it, and it probably looks fairly harmless. I think it will be a great backpacking knife. The axis lock is typical; solid.

I'm waiting for the local shop I always go to, to get it in.

I'm thinking it will make a great back up for camping. I normally carry my fixed but figure this will be a nice little back up or light duty use.

I would not use it. Some knives are made to be used and some are collectors items. Might be just my opinion, but I would not use something like that.

i agree. There's a few knives I just don't like to use hard.

I have a benchmade triage I basically try to break every day at work now lol.
Others I just carry for EDC outside of work where they won't get beat up too much.

For camping/bushcraft I have other knives that are more so designed for that.

Life is too short to not use a good knife. Build some memories on it, not just dust.

I've been buying stuff that I can use. I'm not sure I want something to sit on a shelf just to be admired. Not saying you shouldn't do that-I'm sure their are pieces, maybe well used, that deserve to be displayed and not used. But like Adam says, use 'em.

I understand, and agree to a point, but if this is a special knife given to him by is uncle, sitting on the shelf or in a drawer, he will always have his memories of/with his uncle. If he carries it and destroys it, or lose it, then the knife is gone with the memories. I guess if you buy 1 or 2 knives and use them it is one thing, but in my case I just like knives, so I have probably 30 or more, I can't use them all, so I have a few EDC, some backups in the cars, and the rest are collectors items. I don't need to use them all if I have a few that are great at the tasks that I use them for.

I use all my knives. I like the memories I gather all about them.
