What's up TW. I've never had a lifted truck before, so I need some help with something. I got my wheel spacers installed couple days ago, and now I notice that my truck tends to shake when going about 60mph, and as I might add, it also rocks when im going about 10mph. Would the problem be my wheel spacers, or would it be my tires, or something else? Thanks in advance.

Make sure the wheel spacer nuts are torqued to proper torque spec. If that doesn't help then check your tire balance. You may have lost some weights during install. That's where I'd start

@mbmack1 spacers were torqued to correct spec and more so I don't think it's the spacers. Honestly, I think it might have just been the road I was driving on, cause when I drove home after work tonight it was fine. Anyways, what do you mean by losing weights during install? Worse comes to worse, it might just be my tires.

@Vbpiper nah, I don't think it's the spacers. Spacers were torqued to spec recommendation. & my friend has the same spacers, he does a lot of offroading, with no problems at all. I think it might have just been the road I drove on, or maybe just my tires.

Are they hub centric spacers? If they're not positioned correctly, it shakes.

@Gearheadesw no they're not. How do you know if they're positioned correctly or not?

All our wheels and spacers need to be hubcentric. They reast on the big round ridge in the hub, they don't hang off the wheel studs. Must be hubcentric for proper seating of wheel or spacer, 6 on 6.5in lug nut holes, and 108.5 mm hub hole, iirc.

Time to buy some real wheel spacers. The aluminum in the Cheap ones suck. I'd be afraid of my wheel coming off

that could be it right there.
Torque specs are at a certain torque for a reason.
Too little and it can come loose. Too tight and you can damage the bolt or other parts.
I've never dealt with spacers but I know when it comes to torque specs do not over do it.
Do it on switch gear or any high current electrical gear and you just created hot spots. The washers are meant to leave space for expansion and contraction. Go too tight and they won't leave that space anymore.

Take off the wheels spacers and then see how it drives. I wouldn't put wheels spacers on my truck IMO, just get a lower offset wider wheels.

^^^ That's not true... I have aftermarket wheels non-hubcentric and don't have any spacers installed... the "real" answer is "it depends"... you get what you pay for. I have Fuel wheels, no spacer and non-hubcentric no vibrations at +95mph so far... been a year since I installed them.

My truck does the same thing when I added 2"wheel spacers it shakes at 55mph. Never did it before I put spacers on there. I did have the lug nuts too tight. I torqued them at 83lbs now and it still has a shake but not as bad. The guy that had them before me said he had no problem with them in his Chevy. He could've just said that so I wouldn't try to give them back lol. I've got a 2013 tacoma

I put some 1.25" Spidertrax on yesterday, went on without a hitch, and no vibes up to 85 MPH. I rarely, if ever, take the Taco higher than that, so I'm sure they're good to go.

It's just weird that it was vibrating like that. I change the lug nuts to Black lug nuts because the old ones were trying to strip out. Now the tires are vibrating even more

You need Hub Centric spacers as stated, you also probably have $&@! spacers. Honestly any type of spacer is garbage. If you want "stance" get the correct offset wheels.

Hi I support these forums and I can safely say, sometimes I learn from forums rather than auto shops or other media trends. I would feel selfish not to contribute, and share my experiences. Im a 5 lugger and at around 154k mileage I got bored and decided to upgrade my rims and tires to 3rd gen tacoma rims with K02 tires bought from the marketplace, rear conversion was smooth, front gave me countless problems, however, I was able to figure it out evidently. Tacos are notorious to sensitivity, obviously engineered to exact specs, so slight weel modifications will cause vibrations. Bought "adapters" 5 lugs to 6 lugs, that also served as spacer. Vibrations and scraping was a huge problem at the beginning. Purchased torch lift kit and wheel adaptors from Amazon that I can safely expressed adequately served its purpose for the price. In addition, it is very important to get the right parts since auto parts shops often mistakenly provide parts that are prerunners having completely different drivetrains. I personally idiotically lowered my truck instead of lifting it, never felt so dumb in my own personal history of practicing auto mechanics as a hobby. Anyhow, installing the adapter/spacer caused strong vibations between 40-60mph, and that is after allgnment and balancing. I thought by adapters are hub centric, so purchased centric rings, proper tightening of lugs (there will be around 17 per wheel) I tend to tighten it a little bit tighter than torques specs with locktite since a little lose will cause vibrations. The adapters were not perfrect, and the external lug thread were 6x14x1.5 mm versus stock 6x12x1.5, so it would be difficult to find precise mag seat lugs, I used tundra lugs mag seat, though it served its purpose but the lug shank does completely fit, , and might have to bore the hole by 2mm. Having all mentioned the modifications above, I was able to dramatically reduce the vibrations but can still slighty feel it at certiain speed. Though it is no longer annoying and does not bother me, I would want it to be perfect so still in pursuit figuring it out. Hope info helps and see links below of parts
