    Hello Tacoma World! Happy to be a part of this community since I just purchased a 2015 2nd gen Tacoma TRD Sport. I'm excited to begin modding it & I would like to start with a new suspension & wheels/tires. It currently has ~33K Miles. I have a $4,000 budget for the suspension both front and back (Including installation if possible). I would like to lift it 2.5 inches and fit Open Country 285/75/R16's (I understand that I would have to trim a few things). Is my budget fair enough to purchase a decent suspension & have it installed? Which suspension would you recommend for my budget? Thank you in advance for any advice.

    By the way, I will mostly drive this truck on the road, but want to have a suspension that is ready for some light off-roading.

    Welcome to the board I suggest you you use the search function as this question gets beaten to death on a daily basis. What are your goals? You will need to do a Cab Mount Chop and some good trimming to fit the 285's 4,000 you could do a nice lift, and wheels and tires. Look around on headstrongoffroad.com and talk to Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and she will take great care of you

    My recommendation would be to read, read, and read some more. With that kind of budget, your options are wide the fuck open. You may not necessarily need to spend all that just because you've got it, because I know someone is inevitably going to say "FUCKING KINGS BRO"

    To answer your question though, my recommendation would be a full OME set up with some aftermarket UCAs like light racing, or JBA. It's a tried and true kit, and anything more will be severe overkill for your needs. As far as install, it's really easy with a little know how, so you should post in a local thread and see if members are willing to help. I just helped someone local and we knocked it out in about 4 hours.

    Exactly I have OME 887's on 5100's up front and in the rear I have an ICON 3 Leaf Progressive AAL with ICON 2.0 Shocks and JBA Standard High Caster UCA's up front

    Depending on the rims you get, offset and such. You might not have to trim. Knowing this from experience.

    Also with 4gs under your belt to spend. Like @EatSleepTacos said your options are wide af. It's going to cost you roughly $800-1200 for labor including the alignment and depending on the shop. So that leaves you around 3k for a full lift. Also check out @ToyTec Lifts they are great as well as Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road both very knowledgeable and friendly

    Hope this helps

    <-10mm or -12mm those are usually the common ones. Mine are -12mm and I run 34s and rub a bit

    What's the difference between a positive and negative offset? I'm pretty ignorant on the topic, but don't stock wheels have a positive offset? Would it change my ride quality?

    Fucking Kings BRO!! FTMFW!!! :boink::thumbsup::santa::headbang:

    Actually, call Marie at Headstrong Offroad and she will set you up after you discuss what you want, what you need and your budget. I did and she is da bomb!

    Let me just say this: "Buy once, cry once" Cant tell you how many times in my life I burned through money on suspensions, wheels, etc. (I came out of modified BMWs and Audis) only to later buy a new suspension the following year tossing more money down the shitter. I learned my lesson and went high end on my Gen 1. Zero regrets.

    Definitely stay within your budget but, if after researching, you find a system that you could save a little bit more for, do it. You wont regret waiting a bit for value vs. something you'll replace in a year or two. Trust me..

    Good Luck!

    Here's a good visual. Offset alone doesn't dictate anything. You need to know the wheel width as well.

    Sounds like you need a one stop shop to take care of your needs. @ToyTec Lifts can help you with the lift, the wheels from ICON, and the tires. Give them a call tomorrow (303) 255-4959 and talk to David at x103. He will take care of all your needs.
