I'm doing some initial research around coordinating a group buy for a 12v fridge from Alibaba.

Would anyone be interested in this if the cost was $300-400? I'm considering an MOQ of 20 units.

I'm thinking the 32L size with German Danfoss compressor. There's also an option for a Chinese compressor if we wanted to keep the cost down.

I understand - there are a few different configurations, and like I said this is super preliminary so I'm working out some of those details.

Sizes are 32L, 42L, 52L but we would most likely have to only buy one size for this exercise.

I don't believe they are dual zone but have a temp range of -30C to 10C.

    Lid opens similar to ARB.

Not sure about retail as I haven't seen them sold anywhere at this time.

Lead time from China is generally 45 days via sea based on my professional experience.

Not sure on payment method yet, also would need to be hashed out.

Edit: Looks to be comparable to the Smittybuilt model:

Seems like 32L is a tad too small (just my .02c). Seems like a decent deal, depending on what you end up with and end cost to me, I'm interested.

I already have a 52L fridge but would be interested in a 32L w/ danfoss compressor if the price point was <$350 to my door.

Id possibly be in, following more info pics etc with42l+ and danfoss.

Just a heads up i deal with danfoss refrigeration compressors and zone valves pumps etc at work all the time. They make quality stuff. Cant speak for the rest of the fridge tho.

Update: the vendor wants me to pay 400$ for a sample. I don't want to take anyone's money without testing a sample, but if they aren't willing to comp it then this is dead in the water. I'll update if anything changes.

SMAD builds these alibaba style fridges. I believe they are an importer from China working in LA. Their fridges on eBay are pretty reasonably priced and they state Danfoss compressors. Might be worth a read out. I would be interested in one if a group buy came together.

It’ll cost more in the long run when you realize you bought an unwarranted piece of shit and then have to go buy an ARB.

It's not unheard of to provide a sample for free or discounted with the understanding that a bulk order would follow. This is common practice in the sourcing/procurement world.

With that being said, after crunching the numbers this would only be worthwhile for a local group-buy, as any shipping after landing at the port would most likely mitigate a lot of the savings.
