After installing King 2.5 , ride height almost unchanged.

I just installed my King 2.5 ext travel with remote resi front and back. I knew the rear shocks would not give me any lift, but the front I was expecting a little more. After installing, I can barley see any difference in ride height. Seems like I got less than 1" of lift. I don't want to install new leaf springs until I can get the front end higher. I hate the stink bug look lol

#1. How much higher can I get the front end by adjusting the coilovers?

#2. Do I really need to remove the coilover completely to adjust them?


BTW... the bolt for the UCA is much harder to remove than the previous 2nd gens. Its possible without cutting , but very difficult. Took me 3-4 hours for the UCA's alone because I was single handed.

You have almost no pre-load on the coil-overs. Yes, you can adjust them without removing them. I've heard a little WD40 can help. Remember with the suspension geometry, another 1" of threads showing will equal another 2" of lift (someone please correct me since this is probably not exact). Just jack up that corner to take the suspension load off (remove tire for easier access).

For the rear, you could always go with an AAL if you don't want to replace the entire pack.

 

Agreed. I've adjusted many brands of CO's, and you must lube them prior to adjustment, as well as removing the load, ie jacking the front end off the ground. For every full rotation of the collar is about a 1/4" of lift. After a certain point, that number may change. I've made a habit of putting one extra rotation on the drivers side to compensate for the lean. Any questions or issues, feel free to contact me at your convenience. If you want a level truck. 5 turns driver and 3 turns passenger. That's what I did. No more lean either.

 

The 1" of lift you got is expected. They are intended to be OEM replacements out of the box. It effectively levels the truck if you don't adjust them. But yeah you can get another inch or two if you spin the collar.

 

That tool they included seems sketchy to use lol how hard is it to turn the collar?

 

If you lube them up it’s not too hard to spin. I use t handle Allen wrench to adjust mine.

 

Not too bad turning the collar especially with that little threads showing. Pro tip, I think it's a 5/16" punch that I've been using, works better than the tool that is supplied. I lube, then back the set screw out a bit, move collar back n forth to get lube down in, then start cranking. Don't forget to tighten the set screw back when your done. Doesn't need to be super tight, just enough to where the collar won't turn on its own

The factory preload is usually not enough, especially when you start adding accessories to the front of your truck (bumper, winch, etc.). I cranked mine up to just over 1" of threads showing. I used the punch tool that came with the shocks, but it started to bend after adjusting the driver side. I bought a spanner wrench off Amazon (pic below) that worked a hell of a lot better.

Yeah I did, I have about 8-9 threads showing on driver and about 7-8 driver. Much better. I still want a little more height but I am happy for now.

I'm in huntington if you need a hand playing with these. Don't pre-load them more than an inch. If you need more preload to get the height you want, swap in heavier springs. That tip came straight from King when i talked to them about mine.

 

I also have the adjusting tool from King, makes adjusting them extremely easy.

 

Use a spacer for the lean. You change way too much in suspension geometry by cranking one co mor than another.

The reason I ask, is because I’m in the same position as you, yesterday I installed king 2.5 coilovers in my 14 Tacoma and it only gave me a 1”lift and I want way more than that
