Prinsu is not a budget rack as someone mentioned. The factory rack is a budget rack.

I have a Front Runner rack and love it. Tons of attachments and a really versatile rail system. Prinsu looks really good as well.

Have Prinsu, have Front Runner, have seen/played with RhinoRack.

Prinsu is utter garbage. Poorly made, and worse designed garbage. Huge fanboy following here on TW, but it's completely unwarranted. The only thing it has going for it is the low profile.

Love everything about FrontRunner. RhinoRack is wicked, too.

I like my BajaRack utility rack ok. It's noisy, but not sure if any others are quiet. And I think it's cost me 1-2 mpg.

That rack looks great. How did you secure it? Factory mounts?

To each their own. glad you like your Frontrunner! For me the Prinsu has been a beast that's held up well, after dialing it in I get minimal wind noise in the cab, looks great/low profile, and I can carry boats and gear up there with ease. Yes it's a simple design, but I like it's simplicity personally. But I have friends who have both and the overall consensus is that everyone likes either rack, once I see folks deviate from those 2 brands confidence starts to wane.

@Dissent86 makes some badass stuff though... maybe the next build ;)

Thanks! Yes, mounts using the factory threaded holes in the drip rail. I made my own stand-offs that follow the curve of the roof and allow the rack to sit as close to the roof as possible. There's about a 1/2" gap between the bottom of the rack and the highest portion of the roof (center) and the shark fin antenna is level with the top of the rack so there's no interference with potential cargo.

I can second this....if you don't have to put RTT and heavy gear up top (under 100lbs) I love the OEM rack. Not to mention it is stowable while not in use to lower the profile and help with MGP's (if one is concerned about that).

I use it to stow my water system, 4 maxtraxx and an awning...gets the job done for me.

Prinsu racks seem to be popular on this forum, but the in-depth reviews I have seen from people who have installed them, are pretty mixed in terms of installation issues.

Canadians and people in US states that have winter, have to be careful about buying stuff that is designed in warm US states, because it doesn't stand up to 4 months of salt spray on the road every winter. If you pay attention when you are walking through Home Depot and Costco parking lots up here, you can make a list of light bar and winch brands that will 100% show corrosion within a few years.

Me, I am trying to figure out if I can make my own rack, in such a way that I can fit Front Runner mounts to it.

I have the Gobi stealth rack, It's a nice cross between the Prinsu, and the Baja rack. It's been plenty strong, and is very quiet, and looks bada$$.

I figure you'll adjust to whatever you decide upon, and which ever you pic it'll be the best for you. For myself I have no regrets, and if I had to it over again I'd go Gobi again. The utility and customer service are great

hey bud, do you happen to know if the spacing for the set of holes closest to the windshield is the same as the rear spacing??
I know the rear holes line up good with thule landing pad things, just not sure of the front ones.

Any chance you can post a few good pictures of this rack on your taco? I had the same on my FJ. It was pretty loud, even with the fairing.

<edit>. A few minute of googling found some good pics. What's your experience with noise?

I'll take a couple pics tomorrow. I really havent noticed any significant noise associated with it. If there is a strong cross wind you'll notice it, but I live in a pretty windy place and have no issues.
