I seriously think the TG is the best bang for the buck. I paid a $100 for a box from the local picknpull and spent all day pulling it only to have it leak from the sector shaft like crazy. By the time you buy and rebuild a box, buy the drill and tap and fittings, you are pretty dang close (close enough for me) to the TG box. I think the tg box is 300 bucks or something and comes tapped with the fittings and caps. Order it through low range and get free shipping. Some people complain about it leaking and mine did for the first week (a small drip every once and a while) then stopped once everything was coated. Just my .02 cents. And the one I got came with a bleeder valve on the top so took 10 minutes to bleed as well and has a "life time warranty" so they say...

When mine started liking they asked me to send it back. 3 days later I got another one back. so the lifetime warranty might be true :D I think I paid around $300 box plus shipping at the time (bought it directly from them....should have done it through low range!)

You bring good points about the convenience factor. It saves time and frustrations. I know there's the popular belief that everything can be done super fast and cheap by scavenging through junk yards. That might be true for some things. But often times the time wasted and frustrations are not worth it - to me at least.

    Totally hijacking the steering talk...

What’s the consensus on aluminum beadlocks? Is raceline still as good as it gets or is Method/KMC worth looking into?

Hutchinsons? They're more expensive, but they also lock both beads.

Too heavy and too expensive. The 3RZ needs all the help it can get! I've gone a few years without de-beading on non beadlocks so I'm not sure the double lock is really necessary for me.

The Pro Comp Vapor 2's actually look pretty good...I had dismissed anything from Pro Comp but they are Pirate approved...

When the time comes ill be going with raceline or the pro comps. I think those are the 2 best looking ones.

Had no idea that procomp made beadlock wheels. I have not looked at anything coming from that company in years....with the exception of the tires.

Lot of people in AZ use the racelines. For some reason they seem to be a popular choice here.

Me too, a few of my friends run the Racelines so I want to do something different as much as anything.

4WP has a 25% off sale on Pro Comp tires and 15% sale on Pro Comp wheels right now...I'm super tempted....

Do it and buy me a set of 4 since its the holiday season and your feeling generous :D

Not sure if your looking for tires but ive been happy with my procomp tires and another buddy just got a set in 37s and my dad just picked up a set of 40s. Only downside is the side walls are a little thin but I got the warranty on them and had no problems replacing the 1 with 4wheel parts.

I got a wedding to pay for with all my extra generosity :luvya:

I'm thinking that I will pull the trigger in 37's. I would love to go 40's but I'll still have road power and a spare with 37's :D

Are you guys buying prebuilt steering shafts(from the wheel) or piecing them together?

Ive got the Vapor Pros 2's. I like them, I just hate the ring. I wish the bolts sunk into the ring instead of being completely exposed. If I could change the ring I would immediately.

I got the borgenson universal shaft and chopped it down and used their u joints. There's a build thread out there somewhere with all the part numbers for a Tacoma to Toyota box if you Google.

It may be on TTORA, Google would be the best way to find it.

This is exactly the type of ring that I wish my Vapors had.

yeah i love that the bolts are recessed. i had some racelines years ago and hated that the bolt heads were not protected and i couldn't get mud out of the rim. the lip just wouldn't let shit out
