When I slow down to stop for red lights, I can feel the transmission slipping. It feels like a light jerk. I have a 2016 6-speed auto TRD Off-Road double cab. Anyone has similar problem and know how can I get this fixed?

The driver seat sits really low to the ground compared to other trucks/suvs I have driven. I am 5ft 11" and when I go for long drives over 1-2 hour, my hamstrings start to hurt and I have to stop at a gas station or rest area to stretch my legs. This does not happen when I drive my wife's BMW 328 xi for long drives.

    Any suggestion folks? Thanks.

My truck downshifts when I slow down, always has. Is what you are experiencing a new problem? You could check to make sure the transmission fluid is full. If everything check out, I guess you could put it in neutral each time you slow down if it really bothers you.

As for the seats, no suprise really that a luxury car is more comfy than a truck. Again, is this a new thing? Or has this always been an issue (e.g. while shopping for the car, during the test drive, etc.).

Weird, I'm about the same height as you but i think the seat is too high, wish i would make it lower.

I had a rental 2017 Titan (first truck I've ever driven) before I got my Tacoma, and I was a little disappointed by the Tacoma's front seat positioning. It's nothing I get upset about (same height as you), but I definitely don't slouch anymore. I drove from DFW to Nashville 2 months after having the truck and once I adjusted my posture an hour or so in, I've had ZERO issues with soreness or cramping.

Maybe it's from driving a Nissan Altima for 4 years :notsure:

the downshifting is breaking assist to prolong your break pads, normal. As for the seat, get a machine shop to make some aluminum spacers with longer bolts (wish they would have incorporated a height adjust, but they didn't)

My dad bought a nice, new Volvo a few years ago. After a few long trips he noticed that the seat made his back hurt. He got a different car.

I agree. It feels too high for me at 6’0”. Less the height of the seat though and more where it puts my view. Feels like I need to crouch down to see traffic lights even when I’m stopped the proper length behind the white line

I'm about 5'11 and I honestly feel like the truck was specifically made for my build. I see all the complaints about comfort, height, visibility, etc., and of all the things I've had to "fix" to make this truck perform like I expected it to, I literally haven't changed a single setting in the seat/back/steering since I purchased it. hell that's one reason I bought it so quickly b/c when I hopped in everything just "fit" like that perfect baseball bat. haha

The tranny is weird. The good thing about calling this out now is that it is a known issue and folks are logging a lot of miles with this "characteristic" without issue. A year or 2 ago when this was happening many we convicted the transmission was falling apart. It's just annoying with the clunks.. but not malfunctioning.

Normal for a Tacoma. Trade for a Frontier or Ridgeline.

If the tranny was slipping you'll notice it on upshifts as well, but it will be more like a "flare." Your RPMs will go up but the ratio to them going up vs. your speed increasing will be noticeably off before it finally catches the next gear. If you aren't seeing the RPM/speed correlation it is hard to say it is slipping, at least I think so. The jerk could simply be a bit of normal slop in the drivetrain. The Taco didn't have the worst slop I've driven, but it definitely wasn't the tightest drivetrain. I considered it normal.

Do you know where I can buy the spacers/longer blots online. Any examples? Thanks.

Yeah, I would love a lower seating position too. I’m only 5’10” and I don’t drive in a super upright position but my head is about at the roof. I know I’m at a bit of a height disadvantage because of the sunroof but I don’t know how anybody over 6’ drives this truck. Maybe they all just drive full sized rigs... or go with some serious gangster lean?

i know what you mean about the seat like its sucking you down.
What I did I made some 2x 2" inch Height about 1" x 1" polyblock we have at my work, i cant remember which bolt, but its either 5/16 or 3/8 bolts x 2 1/2 " lenght , and then cut some sleeves. I will take a picture. It made a big difference in comfort.

im a shorter guy 5'5 so I did 2" spacer, but for you I say 1 1/2" should be good.

It raises the rear of the seat and doesn't feel like youre being sucked in.
