I remember I was scared of "Diablo Drop Off" that one night when we went with Raymond and it ended up not really being a big deal other than a little off camber moments going down. Maybe it was because it was super dark and I couldn't see my pending DOOM as we were going down the hill so it relaxed my mind not knowing what would REALLY HAPPEN???!!! :burnrubber::eek::goingcrazy::boom::bananadead: LMAO!!!:laugh::rofl::rofl::rofl::D:p

The one that does put a bit of fear in me is "The Slot" because you can easily roll if you turn your wheel too sharp. That night, my stupid wheel-base didn't help any, but I'm pretty sure 80% was my fault in applying the brakes too early "sliding down" the soft sand??? It was SUPER HARD for me to gauge when to apply the brakes and when not too because you really have no control as you're going down as the rear tires just slip anyways??? But, with that said, those ruts/steps were pretty deep either way and I ended-up seesawing. :ballchain::annoyed::frusty::facepalm:

Anyways, I like that camping spot looking out into the valley!!!:fistbump:

    A little a this, a little a that...
My buddy in his 80 series got stuck on the drive. One of those situations where there's a little slope and it's a little icy and once you start sliding off the road, anything you try to do makes it worse. It only took us about an hour with a shovel to get him back on solid ground. The kids wanted to play in the snow anyway...

Thank you! It's beautiful out there and as long as you have some nice lighting, the pics will turn out great. I've been going out there for years and have only done Coyote Canyon once. I may have to head out that way again on one of the next trips.

Yeah, they give Diablo a mean sounding name, but it turns out it's only even a little sketchy if you're going up it. The thing I've found with almost all of the trails out there is if you take your time and be careful with your wheel placement when you need to, it's all pretty doable.

Next time you get cross-axled like you did that one night, just try giving it a little left foot brake. Also, try to resist the urge to turn your wheel when going from one rut to the next. This is where having a rear locker helps a little as well. If you use it going down steep, loose stuff like that, having both wheels engaged really reduces slippage and the resulting engine surge. Makes the entire experience less dramatic. But more than any of the above, just stay relaxed.
