Yeah I think steel would bring more people and allow for more customization. I got my full size aluminum behind the seat molle panel for $250 shipped. And its probably 2 and a half times bigger than this. I love the magnet idea thats definitely something my kids would love.

I would like to see it in aluminum. It's worth the extra $ to me. Just my opinion though.

Im ok for both. A few people are worried about it being 200 so I think thats why people would rather it be steel.

Although the lower price point for steel, I think the magnet idea is a cool bonus feature

@mesojdm as you know I prefer aluminum and I’m good with the $200 plus shipping but of course will take a steel one if that’s what you go with.

IM open to both but like the steel for magnets. See what the cost is for either and go from There.

I’m not going to put magnets up there. I bounce around all the time and if one of them came down and smashed my window or something I’d be so pissed. Or hit my kids in the head or something. Noooo way.

I’m voting aluminum, anodized preferable type III if possible. Even if you run me off one out of your scrap around I’d be in, better quality preferred. I planned to turn those edges up for rigidity and mount a solid 50lbs up there. Still waiting on final word if they work with handles like my 2017 PRO...

I’d probably take one steel anyways.

Dont buy cheap or weak magnets. They generally dont lose polarity at all i've had magnets to shit longer than my kids have been alive.

Is there some rating for them or something? I mean the ones on my fridge are trash.

I don’t need another thing to research, but 8 of from Amazon trying to test which ones are best and spend a ton of time on.

I’d rather have a stronger lighter product with less flex and pay more. That’s all.

What would you put up there with magnets anyways? After attending many high speed collisions I’m not a fan of things that aren’t strapped or tied down in the cabin.

You'd be surprised with how powerful the rare earth magnets are now a days. I'm not thinking about hanging a firearm from it, although I do have this one and it is DAMN strong.
But more for smaller/lighter items, i.e EDC case, med kit, flashlight, etc. Where a magnet for quick removal would be really nice.

    Now we’re getting somewhere.

Would this magnet go in your bag then and you’d expect it to stay in place during a collision? Looks like the magnet can also be mounted to the panel and the bag could have a thin sheet of steel or something. Maybe the magnet isn’t too heavy. Do they make bags/pouches for this application?

Definitely gonna have to go with steel for me. Love the magnet idea for quick attaching/detaching of items and the price point.
