    Hey folks,

Finally got the 2017 I special ordered a few months back. Feels nice to actually have the truck in my driveway while I browse these forums!

One thing I noticed these first few days of driving has been a metallic sound when shifting. I guess it could be considered a "clunk" - to me it just sounds like the noise of moving parts but I'm not used to hearing it, even on my Jeep's old NV3550. It's easy to hear when the truck is off or when I go from a stop, once I"m moving fast enough to go to third gear or more the road noise overwhelms it but when stopped it's clearly there in all gears.

    Here's a youtube video of it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0o9_m9Fah1k

Same noise whether the truck is on or off, and whether I shift with the clutch in or out.

It might be normal for the truck (or all trucks), and it doesn't bother me as long as it is. Just want to make sure that's actually the case.

    Thanks!

I made the same video for my 6 spd.. these are extremely mechanical sounding clunky transmissions.

I'd try replacing the gear oil with Amsoil or something good and see if it dampens the noise.

Every manual I have owned has made a "clunk" sound with the clutch in going over a bumps at slow speeds. These are very smooth MT's and you will thoroughly enjoy driving it!!

Honestly don't think it'd help. It's not a feeling thing it's just a clunk thing. The trans itself is pretty smooth.

that may smooth the shifts a bit, it did in my case and i'm using Amsoil, but it won't change the sound. that's from the design.
