New to the group and looking to buy my first Tacoma in the coming months. Currently overseas and will be returning early-mid January and will be needing to get into a new daily pretty quickly. I've pretty much got my heart set on finding a DCSB Off-Road in MGM, White, or most preferably Inferno. I've scowered the classifieds here and was going to post a WTB but there doesn't seem to be very much traffic there. I can't really justify buying new and would be most happy with a '16 but I'm having a tough time finding something which surprised me considering how popular these things are. My question is, where do you guys look for your used trucks? I'm obviously stuck to online shopping as of now but I'll be returning to Alabama and am from South Carolina originally so anything remotely in the south-eastern states is an option. Hoping that with the '18s rolling out that there will be more 16's and 17's floating around the dealerships by the time I get back. If you have any good leads or are looking to sell in the next couple months, any help would be greatly appreicated becuase Auto-Trader isn't doing much for me.

Have you tried Cars.com. You can search new or used, set a parameter for distance, and price range as well as year. It shows dealers and private party sales.
You can probably find a new 2017 for not much more than a used 2016, plus a change in 2017 included a power rear sliding glass.
With the 2018 hitting lots now, you can probably get a 2017, but I don't know what the inventory will look like by January.

You really should consider justifying new, used Tacoma's usually don't sell for much less than new. Loans on new vehicles usually have lower rates than used vehicles too. If i were you i would search around for a new 2017 that is still leftover as the 2018s are rolling in.

Tacoma resale value the way it is, I'd only buy new or pretty old.

You guys pretty much have me convinced. Plus when I started looking on websites with the idea that I could go for a new '17 the options were so much better. I had hoped to get out the door for around $30k. Oh well.

How do you like the SR5? Worth not having all the bells and whistles of the OR? As far as I can tell the only thing that really appeals to me is the locker. I will probably change the wheels, suspension, and tires, don't like the TRD logo on the bed so that will probably get removed. Not much else to the OR than the crawl control stuff right?

    Found something interesting.

    https://www.tuscaloosatoyota.com/us...omizePayment_Module&direction=asc&sf=sf_model

I'm referring to the three white '17 TRD's. All pretty identical trucks give or take some mileage. Noticed that all the car fax's say that they were registered as rentals so I emailed the dealer. He said that they were all three dealer loaner trucks and are just being rotated out based on mileage. Seems like a good price but the thought of it being a loaner makes me cringe a little bit.
