Hey folks, I've seen a bunch of threads about shock options for standard lift applications... but my set up's a bit non-standard.

With the camper and extra weight in the back, I noticed a very slight lean with my standard Dakar pack and 5100's, so I opted to throw in the Deaver AAL that I got with my original Toytec Lift kit into my Dakars while everything was apart for the frame repair.

When I went to throw the shocks back on (without the bed or any weight, just the frame), they wouldn't go... cause they weren't long enough, no harm no foul I thought since I was sure everything would settle back down once the bed and camper shell were back on.

With the AAL I'm about 1/2" higher than I was before, now I did get my 5100's back on there once I had everything put back together... but I'm pretty sure I've only got about 1.5" of up travel on them and have noticed some bottoming out. I measured them at about 26" extended length, so I'm thinking of maybe going with something around 29-30" extended to give me an extra couple inches of travel. Do I just grab another set of 5100's that are extended or are there some other options I'm not thinking about.

I've seen some mentioning's of 5125's, but aren't they just valved different from the 5100's?

Trying to keep it pretty standard.... no remote reservoir stuff, new cross members etc...

I'm not 100% on this. I think the valving is the same, but The 5125s come in different stroke lengths (10", 12", etc.).

Well now I'm just confused... Toytec website list their 5100's that came with my lift were D560's. When I look those up it's giving me a 22" extended length... I know I measured mine center hole to center hole at just under 26"...

Am I correct in assuming that you'd want the shock to be at center extension when sitting at normal ride height? Or does it depend on whether you're trying to limit up/down travel for certain applications?

Did you end up going with those 5160s? I'm looking to replace my nitrochargers, as they only have 1-1.5" travel left with no load and the aal.

Stand by on those... had to buy some UBJ's and LBJ's... figured my front wheels falling off took precedence over rear end travel:thumbsup:

I got new upper arms. So that takes care of the UBJs. The LBJs are $250 a piece from the dealer, so I'll wait till they fall off

I guess my local dealer didn't need to rip me off that bad.. the lowers were $125 a piece. I was gonna hold off on doing the uppers, as I'm also in the market for UCA's down the road.. but for $45 and some time.. it's worth the peace of mind until I cough up extra cash for new Camburgs!

Depends on your lift I think, check with Wheelers Off Road. I put some 5125s on and they are running on the compressed side even with the OME and exp AAL, might add another AAL since I carry a lot of weight, right now it is knock sensors, valve cover gaskets, cleaning out the throttle body and headers and exhaust this spring- maybe injectors since I am in that deep. We'll see....
