yeah i love that the bolts are recessed. i had some racelines years ago and hated that the bolt heads were not protected and i couldn't get mud out of the rim. the lip just wouldn't let shit out

My racelines are recessed in. You must of had really old, or the cheaper ones. The newer ones also are easy to get the mud out of. Sorry about your luck! However the KMC's you have look really nice!

Who has the best deal on Koyo Trunnion Bearings? Low range has them for 15.00 with 5% off on Friday (not much....) and free shipping. Seeing if anyone has found them for cheaper or something stronger. Was considering the trunnion bearing elimantor but that pin is 3/4 while my arms pin is 1".

love my Spider locks the ring design makes it so you can use a handy man jack on the inside of the ring to lift a tire stuck in the mud or in a big hole. Only down side is vvv gotta use a shop vac to get the water out.

Would you mind commenting on going with leafs up front and links in the rear? I've seen some rigs with that set up and am curious about what the pros/cons are.

    Good write up and video.

Well since I learn as I go, I decided to start with the rear as it’s easier to do. But some rigs set up like mine work extremely well. As does mine. But the front just can’t keep up with the rear and I’m wanting to do a matching diamond axle 9.5 in the front so I can run maxxis sticky 40s.
The front actually does fine because it has the weight up front and the rear being so light needs the easier articulation of the double triangulated 4 link.

Cool. That's interesting. Some of the guys I've talked to that had similar setups said that it works really well to have links in the rear and leaf springs in the front. Perhaps we will start seeing more builds like these.

I don't have full hydraulic steering, so no experience with those rams.

But it seems like most rams are pretty much the same regardless of brand. I've seen many rigs both hydro assist and full hydraulic with cheaper rams of unknown brands and they seemed to be doing just fine. Maybe the TG one is just the same as everybody else's with a sticker on it.

I was trying to get a hold of Ballistic the past week and a half. I was looking at their high steer kit, front diff cover with shave kit, etc. I was trying to see what they would charge to machine my knuckles but every time it comes up they don't respond to that question. Has anyone had an issue with them before? I might just be ordering the diff cover since they aren't responding to the knuckle machining.

I got a few smaller parts from them for my build. No issues, but I have certainly heard many stories of customers that were not happy.

That’s unfortunate. I really like some of their products.

Would you guys say the shave kit on a d60 is even worth the time? Or should I just pick up a normal diff cover from roughstuff?

I kinda wish I did it to get a bit more ground clearance. The gigantic pumpkin on the d60 tends to hang on the lower side of things..even with 40"s  Still, it's a frickin d60 man. Strong axle. If not shaving it bothers you too much, either pick a different line or drag the diff until you pull through

I have a diff cover from ballistic. Super beefy, similar to ruff stuff covers. It really gives you peace of mind. I don't think you would need to worry about hitting the front bottom part of your front diff with rocks when you have one of those covers installed..

Im placing my orders tomorrow. If I get a standard diff cover ill pick up the Roughstuff cover since I am getting other parts from them.

Its just a lot of work to shave it and wasn't sure if its worth it, plus the reviews on Ballistic are a little bit of a worry. But I think I'm going to have to, Im going to run through a set of 37-38s so I can continue to fit in the garage which it won't fit with 40's if my math is correct.

    Which D60 do you have?

I prefer to give my business to ruffstuff, they have good customer service, good products and prices, and they make a lot of Toyota / Land Cruiser products.

I don't think you really need it. Would it be nice have? Sure...if you have the extra time and motivation. But most people I see with d60s do not shave their axles.

BTW...my truck with 40s" fits in my two car garage just fine :D The top of the cab is close to the door at the entrance, but it doesn't hit it at all. That's my truck on the pic next to my lady's car. Both vehicles fit just fine.

Also, see the clearance I have between the bottom of the d60 and the ground. It's not too bad. Sure, it would be a bit more with a shave job but I won't lose sleep over it. With a d60 and 37"s you will definitely lose a more significant amount of ground clearance, so keep that in mind.
