This sounds redundant but I have yet to find a solid answer. Some say the coil overs but in order to clear you need to max out the settings and then the ride is rough. What about spindle lift? Level kit? I’m not going to off road I want to still lift it and put 33, 285 tires and have a smooth ride. Anyone have any 2 cents to share ?

2WD . It won’t be going off road obviously . But I’d like to put 33s. So coilovers. That would be a rough ride on the maximum setting , in order to fit 33s right

I perfer to just cut a 2x4 and use it as spacers and blocks. Better than anything on the market :amen:

People seem to like the 5100's and OME coils option. Don't run the OME coils on the 5100's at anything other than 0. Rear setup depends on it you tow or haul any weight. AAL is a bad idea. Progressive AAL pack is better, but the best option is a new leaf pack. If you are looking for something a little more custom, Deaver would be your best bet.

This is not true, well not completely true.

Coilovers get cranked up a little bit yes, which is what lifts the vehicle but they aren't maxed out. I could actually crank my coilovers up so much they wouldn't even fit the vehicle anymore. You do lose a bit of downtravel but shouldnt affect everyday driving. With a 2 3/4" lift up front, my ride significantly improved over stock.

It all depends on budget and what you buy

Coilovers with the properly sized and rated coils will give you the lift you want without having to rip down on the preload ring as youre referring to, keeping the shock within its intended travel range instead of having the shock be maxed out in its travel all the time because you cranked it (the shock) up by cranking down the preload adjustment ring. Give Accutune Offroad a call and ask them what setup you should go with to clear 33s if you want a quick, accurate answer would be my .02

I’m running 285/75/16 with icon coilovers and total chaos UCA. 2.5” of lift and no rubs. Do the cab mount chop or (CMC) to be sure. It’s easy and cheap.

33's are hit and miss on rubbing. some people rub and some people dont. I think the variable is how much you flex your truck and go offroading. Most daily drivers and mall crawlers have little to no rub.

That said I am on the stock 265/70/16s. I havent upgraded because the wheels arent in and no point in mounting new tires to the stock rim, ill just sell them whole

I will upgraded to 285/75/16s with a Stealth Customs SR8 wheels w/ OMF Beadlocks these are a 16x8 -12mm offset and 4.00 backspace.

These will likely rub the cab mount and I will perform a CMC. Front inner fender I will remold with a heat gun because it will likely rub there.

Most 285/33's that people upgrade to are E-rated. E rated tires will give you a rough ride.

This is true... I opted for a D rated tire and they’re much nicer for a Tacoma than an E rated tire.

285/70/17s on King 2.5s. Some rub offroading but I also have not done the cab mount chop yet.
Edit: I can't read, this is on a 2nd gen

    255 x 85 x 16 or 255 x 80 x 17, OE TRD 4 runner wheels.

Full 33, no lift at all. No rub, no cut. Nice full wheel wells. Lots of sidewall for road cushion.

It's the wheel fitment and tire width that make the difference. There are threads around here you can look up for specifics, as I may have gotten the particular model wheel incorrect.
