I've heard that you need a slight gap at the top. My friend's truck had the tint flush with the top, and when he rolled up the window the edge would catch on the weather stripping /seal thing and cause the tint to eventually peel.

The gap reduces pinching of the film when the window is fully up. Important on vehicles with good sealing windows. The 'more closed' they are, the tighter the channel (it's tapered a bit).

This may not be an issue on Tacomas; I've not tinted mine. But it was certainly an issue on other Japanese marquees I've owned.

Should both sides have the same gap? Of course.

Glad they are fixing it for you.

You should see how bad they did on my car. Jagged edges all around and they sliced into the rubber around my rear window when they were cutting their film. I called the dealer and the cost of that rubber strip and installation at the dealer was about the same as the cost of my tint job. Took this invoice and sent it to the tint shop demanding a refund :rasta:

Never fixed the rubber strip, no big deal

Tint job has held up fine for free, I'll take it.
