 I learned on my own a very forgiving (and not nearly as expensive) old Jeep. Definitely happy to pass the info along for people learning on expensive trucks, anything to keep the manual spirit alive!

I must say, you are awesome for learning to drive a manual transmission in this day and age. It’s a lost art and it’s what makes driving fun! Best of luck. Enjoy that truck. You’re doing it right man!

Very nice. The only reason I got a Sport instead of an OR is because I wanted an access cab which the OR doesn't have with a stick. I love the black accents so much better than the color matched.

    Mostly stuff I built.
I ease through 2 small towns on my commute every day with 30mph speed limits. Just coast down to it in 6th roll through town and hit resume on the cruise control. Only time I shift gears in those towns is if I catch a red light.

Went mushroom hunting with the kids yesterday. I finally got to open this thing up off-road (long, straight muddy logging "highway" anyway). What a straight up blast! This thing was clearly made to fly off-road. 3rd gear flat out was the best. I'm sure the auto has much of the same capability, but I can't imagine it's as fun. Dropping a gear and whipping around a corner was just awesome. This machine seems to shine when you get on it and push it a little.

    Ovtuned here...

4th works as low as 25mph and can accelerate from there...
5th down to 35, 6th down to 45. Engine is smooth at those rpms and can still pull away on flat ground, albeit slowly.

I use 4th a lot now when cruising around town.

To those others who asked about how high you rev and how often, I also hit redline pretty much daily. With the tune, this truck is really fast, only issue I have now, with all the rain, is wheel hop when accelerating. Thinking about getting a traction bar now...

Also think this truck would be sweet with exhaust, there's a member on the ovtune manual thread with the Spec-U that sounds amazing.... But it sounds like ovtune may be developing one as well. Will be interested to see what shakes out.

Still wanting to delete my clutch accumulator, a part of me wants to wait, due to warranty concerns... I want to get my squeaky clutch fixed but it seems to only happen in warmer weather, so I'm going to have to wait.

That dang clutch pedal. I just brought it in to get fixed but since the colder wetter weather has set in they can't reproduce...

I have a Budbuilt weld on traction bar and its a pretty nice piece. You can launch it pretty hard and shell just spin for a second and then hook up at about 10' and take off. Its honestly pretty awesome

Really nice to see someone write something nice about the 3.5/Manual combination. There are those that, apparently, feel the need to get to the highest gear as fast as they can...Then they gripe about lack of power. Perhaps a color coded overlay for the Tach would help them. Label below 3000 'Gandpa' and above 3000 'Fun' ? If some of these folks would look at the power curve of the engine and use their tach, they'd be surprised.

It's basically a tank that is built into the clutch hydraulic system for the purpose of holding pressure and absorbing spikes in pressure.

My guess is that it gets leaky over time or gives the pedal a spongy feel all the time as a result of the dampening and people remove it for better pedal feel but could be wrong

I just got a 2018 off-road w/ manual transmission yesterday. First new vehicle I've ever purchased. Also: first vehicle with air conditioning or power anything.

I'm still getting used to shifting. It definitely feels different than my old Honda Civic. The first couple of gears are very jolty at present. I'll have to learn how to feather it. It revs a lot in those lower gears. I don't suppose that I'll ever see improved gas mileage, but who knows. I like to coast down hills, etc., but this truck is about three times heavier than my old car.

Congrats on the new truck, the powerband is kinda high up in Rev's so it takes a little while to adjust to.

I've had the same issues. I've been driving my manual jeep for years and this truck makes it seem like I just learned stick. Definitely a re-learning experience. As soon as I realized I wasn't afraid to let it rev though, it got a bit better. The redline's way up there for a reason. ;)
