So, as you grow, focus on a career, expand a family, as so often happens. Fundamental choices, give and take arise.

For me, it was a choice, part with my beloved second generation Toyota Tacoma, DBL CAB. This was my first ever, so many firsts with this capable machine.
From the moment i glanced at it on the lot, it was an immediate, profound, instantanious, "that's the one!"

Stock, of course and the next 6 months we're a whirl wind of excitement. Additions 6 in coilover procomp lift, American thunder duals, k&n, autostart, new speakers, headlights, wow! It was fun!

Now i'm building a house, so i realized the eye appeal of third gens, and the need for house closing costs.
I sold, and made 14,500 with that truck. But i sold it to a person, whom more importantly, wanted to pick up where i left off.

So here is the question, in july i'll be looking to purchase 3 gen, tacoma trd, and lifting it 6 inches, with fabtech, so i can put the mickey thompson classic lll. Anyone whose gone this route, willing to share there experience with 3rd gen, running 6 in lift 17x9 35x12.5 Bfg's

I'm at the beginning of my 6month research.

    Appreciate it!

Skip the 3rd gen and get another 2nd gen.

So you are chasing the short term gain (additional cash on hand) so you can jump back into payments after house is purchased?

If this is the case, I would have just kept the 2nd gen...

No gain at all if you go right back too what you had before.

Certainly took a loss, however building a house means aomething had to give.

The property and building came before my wife graduated from nursing school, but i digress.

Despite that choice, my real inquiry is not on that choice, but on whether those who've purchased, Gen 3 (16-17) are happy, and whther or not putting a lift on it, caused regret.

Thank you however for the replies

Go drive a 2018 and see what you think, and go from there,I love my 2015,but I really don't see the point in going backwards in your position.

From everything I hear the 16+ is great if you get a 6spd.

I’d stick with 2nd gen. Better look to me. Don’t like the lower bumper on 3rd gen.

Posting here will only get you “why would you trade a 2nd gen for a 3rd gen, you nuts?”. At least in the 3rd gen section, they actually own the truck and can give honest feedback.

If you can flip Tacomas for $14,500 maybe you should stick with flipping.
