No way I'm trying to do this with OBA when I have a real compressor.

Yeah. You have a giant compressor tank.

I think my ARB OBA plus tank is better than my old Porter Cable compressor. Lol

I've done it. It works and definitly helps to have some knowledge of stick welding. Unlike a welder there is no way to control the amperage so you need to control the weld by manipulating the rod itself. It does work though

That's a good point I didn't think about. I have an extremely basic level of welding knowledge and skill, but I think if the need arose I'd be able to booger weld something together as a last resort. Thanks!

You can do it here one weekend when I'm not using the garage if you'd like.

Today, I was messing with my front end/shocks. Now the top hats are brand new and all of the shock/top hat rubber is nice and fresh.

Probably have pulled the shocks about 5 times now using the no coil compressor method.

We now I have a new problem and I could use some help figuring out the solution.

Four lights on the dash are now it up: ABS, VSC TRAC, Slip Indicator and VSC Off.

    What did I screw up?

Edit: ABS Sensor looks plugged in and OK.

I believe all of those systems are tied into that sensor. I'm confused, what were you doing to the truck? New top hats?

Do they go away if you unplug the battery? That'd be my very first step is to do that to see if they go away and magically fix themselves. Simple, fast and free.

its possible you damaged one of the abs wires. They are very delicate and I've damaged one while working on the front end by stretching it. There is a writeup on here somewhere about how to test with a jumper wire in the obd2 port to narrow what corner of the truck is causing the issue. Please hold

Well Floyd, you win the prize for lighting up the dash. If I had this, I would make sure that I didn't pinch the cable to the sensor, or tweak the sensor. Since you probably have a spare, connect to the spare to the cable and see if the Christmas lights continue. Disconnect the battery repeatedly, and go through a full ignition and start cycle. Do you get and OBD code?

    Yeah.

Usually my Christmas lights don't go up until mid December.

    I started early this year:

    Thanks guys!

Today is gonna suck in the cold. I want to get this fixed today. I wanna do some local light wheeling tomorrow.

Here is my morning plan of attack:

Step 1 EDIT: did not fix problem.
Step 2 EDIT: I checked along the entire length of ABS cable both sides. No apparent pinching of cable. Also pulled and reseated both ABS sensors.
    Step 3a - Don't have a spare . Edit: Will order ASAP
Step 3b - No current OBD code
    Step 4
Steve- This is the most likely scenario. What if I determine it to be a ABS sensor or Speed sensor circuit wire to one of the front corners? How hard is it to change the sensor wire? Edit: Doesn't look to be that hard to change the ABS wire.

Edit: I'm gonna do below procedure now to determine if Front Driver or Passenger side.

@Lux - this might mess up my plans tomorrow

Yeah New Top Hats, coil spring rubber cushions and shock mount rubber bushings/cushions.

13 year old top hat holes were excessively enlarged. I could visually observe that the shock rods weren't centered in the top hats.

And it's always good to have fresh rubbers.

I'm a huge fan of the no compresor method. I've done it a handful of times as well.

    Hey Steve and others,

Help me decipher the blinking pattern.
    ABS Dash Light blinking pattern

    I'm seeing:
    one, two, three pause one.

But the next series I see:
one, two, three pause one, two

And then the next series I see:
one, two, three pause one, two, three, four

    Last set:
    one, two, three pause one

I have 700# springs. Works no problem.
But I have two batteries, 1/4" reinforced skids, BFF full hoop bumpers and a winch on board.

Lloyd looks like your getting codes for both fronts and the driver rear circuit. That doesn't add up though because you haven't messed with the driver rear. Unless there is an insane coincidence, the only other thing I can think of that effects all three of those at the same time is your "brake actuator (skid control ecu)" As per this page in the fsm. Have you messed around under the dash and maybe bumped the plug for the plug for the abs ecu?
