I had my dash apart to add a speaker amp. I noticed the fan speed selector switch connector was burnt. Anyone know why this happened? What should I do to fix it?

Yes it is happening because the connector pins are loose fitting together. The added resistance acts like a heater and burns the connector and also it will further weaken the female terminal. Some have applied solder to the male terminal and cleaned the female for a tighter fit. Or replace the connector. I do not have a source for that connector. I would also check the connectors down on the fan.

2x I had an old 1972? Ford wagon. Intermittent fan operation. Same issue at the fan speed switch connector. I clean the connection well and added a new switch. Never had an issue with it (did not check it again either). As Jimmyh says - clean replace and be sure all is tight. IF you sill have an issue you may have to replace both connectors - or if possible - splice and hard wire this wire to bypass the connector (Sloppy fix but ...).
