For those able to observe your Autotranny temperatures, whats the highest we're seeing?
Myself, towing my 2500lb up grades in 3rd gear, I have seen several tiles 212-215; never higher. Once it upshifts, it drops VERY quickly to below 200.
    Offer up your findings anyone,?
    Thanks.

180ish is standard temp. 200 under decent load and slightly higher when towing but could go higher if I was abusing the hell out of it which I choose not to.

I find lower speeds while towing tend to run hottest. My theory is low airflow through trani cooler coupled with lots of slip in the torque converter. As the speed increases temps stabilize and then start coming down.

The 212-215 (maximum) is 3rd gear, 3K RPM, 45MPH STABLIZED. Its as if the transmission thermostat opens at 215, stablizes the temp and/or drops the temp as soon as the load on the engime drops.

    Ok, ok, OK...... You guys

Transmission fluid thermostat opens at 195F.

There are two transmission fluid temperatures. Pan and Post-Converter. Please specify which one you are talking about.

Like one of you mentioned, temperatures rise when towingin third gear. This truck does not lock the converter in third gear. It will lock in all other gears. This is why shifting down to second or up to forth will instantly cool your fluid to around 195-200F. Most of the waste heat is generated by the unlocked converter. You can get it to unlock in fifth and fourth but it's rare when towing and it takes some throttle pedal manipulation.

From my experience, the hottest I've had the Pan was 215F. The hottest I've had the Post Converter was 238F. This was when towing my 4500 pound toy hauler over a very, very steep pass between Palm Springs and Yucca Valley. I drop my speeds and force into S2 near the top of both hills. Anyone who tows over this pass knows what I'm talking about. Temps drop to around 220F Post Converter when I force it into S2. Pan drops to 200F.

I have large additional transmission fluid cooler.

Here is how I am monitoring my trans temps for 27 dollars. I hope you don't pay for an expensive Scan Guage.... You can see my cooler in post #2

Bought my expensive Scanguage originally for my '02 Tacoma. Have appreciated having it for various functions.
Just my good fortune to be able to adopt it into the '16.
I appreciate instrumentation as you might imagine, was key in my career.
But don't spend alot of money if not necessary.
