Didn't think about it behind a fire hazard tbh, I'm not sure how hot the unit gets although I don't really drive at night so I barely use my headlights... But I have a fire extinguisher mounted behind the driver seat so if shit hits the fan ill be ready

Hmm not sure. Mine are wired completely separate from either the turn signals or drl wires.

Any chance you could post a pick of the wiring when you have time, mine are wired separate too. I know you have tritton led signals so maybe that is the difference. These trucks are really finicky with electrical

Yeah my Triton V3 switchbacks have a resistor in them so maybe that's your issue.

I just ordered some led turn signals from jumpersled, I'm hoping after installing that with resistors it'll solve itself. I actually bought a resistor and installed it on the drivers side turn signal with the OEM bulb just to see if that would do it and lucky me it didn't do a thing ha!

That being said if he ends up putting in his own HID kit, his own sealant, then the only component left is how good the clear outer lenses are against the sun. Some of the cheaper ones start to fade rather fast. If you know what you are doing, then ideally any light won’t matter to some extent quality wise as you swap everything out except the plastic shrouds and housing.

But if you only want to achieve the blacked out look, then no need to buy a separate light housing if you just plan to crack them open anyway...some adhesion promoter and paint will get whatever color you want.

Wouldn't it be a waste to buy retrofit headlight just to retrofit them yourself with a TRS kit? At that point I'd just use the stock headlights unless they've seen their better days

Haha you caught me before the edit! I agree man, if you like the stock housing, no need for additional housing.
