All the way out in NV though...

I don't suppose you'll be selling a weld it yourself ver. For cheaper shipping? Or how bad would shipping be for a 2010 with full hoops?

    Everyone makes plate bumpers.

Must be able to charge more cause of the all the metal or something.

The lack of a full tube front bumper is kinda weird, literally all plate bumpers....that weigh a ton. Trail Gear makes the closest thing I've seen that could be considered a tube front bumper.

Plate cost more because there is more design involved, more material may perhaps be part of the equation sure, but there's also more machining cutting and man hours in welding.

Tube is easy to bend, plate is harder to form.

Also take into consideration that plate offers more protection, and better aerodynamics. Tube bumpers aren't always that much lighter either. Considering the average pipe used weighs 3lbs a foot that's equal to 1/2 a square foot of 3/16 plate steel. I think the common misconception is that tube bumpers LOOK lighter and therefore are belived to be. Admittedly tubes are generally a biy lighter but 30lbs isn't really a whole lot in the grander scheme of things. Granted my figures are estimations.

Tube bumpers are only good for 1 hit then they're toasted, once the pipe is no longer circular the strength is gone, and they offer no protection from jutting obstacles, the also grab rocks rather than a plate bumper that can slide or redirect the truck away from a rock. Plate is also significantly stronger, can take multiple hits, be easily patched, seamed, beat out and take more beating on.

So plate has more benifits, all the above are in play when pricing a bumper.

Honestly I think the time v materials v profit of a plate bumper are a closer margin, making the plate bumper a better buy to some extent there alone.

Plus they just look more badass. IMHO

I mean you want your truck to look like a tank (and take a beating like one) or look like a kid with headgear and braces?

    :D

Personal preference I think. Not so much into the "tank" look myself. Really like those old school, skinny, Yotas. Call em janky jalopy's myself. Love watching em wheel, the articulation is amazing. Have always been mesmerized by the rear end of @allmotorrex truck, could watch his truck wheel for days.

If I could do anything, I would fucking kill em desert racing, not much need for plate bumpers in that setting.

I love and ran Brute Force bumpers. I can't stand his front plate though. Its massive.

Your post is well thought out, but here is what I'm thinking....

Sliders are all tube steel typically it seems. They get beat on a lot. Shouldn't be much difference between some slider tube and bumper tube.

(Just for the record edit: I ran Brute Force front and rear bumpers. Got Couple build threads around here, mayhap you'll find one.)

    Thanks!

And your points are quite valid, that's the main reason many like tube bumpers, better clearance and better in the high speed sand stuff where the majority of obstacles will be soft, I think plate is just more in demand as few wheelers are blessed with the wide open dessert expanses of the south west. And again the appearance thing, but as you said it's subjective.

    As for sliders...

Sliders are typically tube so they roll off rocks easier vs having a high coefficient of friction like plate steel would have face to face with the surface. Also sliders have their tube runs much shorter and better supported than tube in a bumper is or would be. The other thing to consider there is sliders are kind of a plan b or last line of defence, they shouldn't have to be used or really ever see a nasty hit, and when they do it going to be glancing as the truck is moving forward and the inertia and weight of the vehicle is more purpendicular to impact. The second for of impact would be from the side pushing in towards the frame where the tubes are stongest as all the stantions off the frame and between the inner and outer bars are horizontally inline with that impact of that kind (and consider how the shorter a stick is the harder it is to bend or break, the load is spread out along those stations and there's much shorter runs between them improving side impact strength) and the last impact sliders would see would be from below, dropping onto a rock but in that situation again inertia is still more moving forward than down and should be very slow very little enertia as if you're dropping off a ledge you're going to want to be crawling and your suspension will hold up the weight of at least half the truck and take the most brute impact out softening the blow.

In short a bumper, esspecially a front bumper, takes impact with all the force of the truck behind it, a slider see significantly less force when it is used.

The quality convo is appreciated sir! Always nice to blab instead of it turning into a shit show, which can happen quick 'round here.

OPs bumper looks real nice. Fitment looks almost spot on.
