What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Started work on my 1st gen bumper to match my 2nd gen. With a few changes.

 

What kind of spring compressor did you use for removing the coils on your coilovers? I can't find one to fit on mine

I have the big brake upgrade waiting in my garage.

 

Usually I use a spring jack, but it wasn't available, so I bought some napa ones and cut the nose off just enough til it fit between coils. Then just turn the bolts to compress spring. @Speedytech7

Welded one of these on my truck. Too tired to do the other one.

 

It's a DIY using my Yakima cross bars, wire overhead garage storage rack and 1x2 aluminum extrusions. I call it the wtf-is-that rack.

 

I ordered a new Denso pump and a sock. I figured the bed is off, the pump is over 13 years old and it might not get any easier later

 

Probably a good idea, those socks get seriously nasty. Lemme know how hard it is to change, I have to change my sending unit and pump when turbo comes along. Until then I just guess in the fuel haha.

 

Pressure washed and applied NHOU to the entire undercarriage. Time will tell if it is better than fluid film.

 

It's not fun. With the bed off it would be easy though.

 

Done for the night. Matching sides. Just need to finish some braces. Clean up my edges and weld up.

 

Looks good!! You didn’t have any sliders before? I need some where my lady can step on go get in the truck mine currently hide a bit inside

 

Had running boards before the big tires. With the lift and not having any kind of step poses a bit of an obstacle for the vertically challenged.

My GF and her two daughters are all under 5'1". Watching them try to get in is funny. I may need and additional (removable) step for them.

 

Haha, yeah I’ll need to order some soon. Which sliders do you recommend ? Or maybe I can just extend my sliders I’ll have to see

 

Kept breaking my stock Toyota key so I switched up and tried the chipped style key from the newer Toyotas.

 

I'd say they all work just fine, but it depends on how much you intend to abuse them. I wanted to try making my own. Seemed like a good DIY project for a novice welder.

finally got the truck out and had some fun

 

Took some pics of the RCI skids, played around with my sliders a little to try and figure out placement and hit 160k today (yes I took the pic while driving).
