So my son purchased these headlights for his, now my, 2005 Tacoma. We put them in together when he was home on leave. They fit perfectly. However, now the pass. side light will not work. H-Beam works fine, markers as well.
At first, adjusting the connector would work of a few days. Now it will not light at all. Has anyone else had this issue with this product and/or have a solution they could share?
Can anyone tell me how to remove the 'bulb' to check for a burn out?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Reason for the upgrade was to get away from the yellowing lenses.

Yes, I have made sure there was no corrosion on any of the connectors
Yes, I have checked the factory plug.
Yes, I have compared L&R buckets to look for damage of any kind.
No, I have not contacted SPEC-D yet. Looks like they have no customer service, just a general number. I will be calling them to ask them for advice, if there isn't a simple fix.
No, my son does not have any kind of receipt.

Just bloody frustrated when something electrical refuses to work.

If I had to guess, it sounds like the plug has some loose wire end connections if wiggling it did help for a little while.

Thats what I figured. But before I go bending or crimping the connections, I was hoping someone had experience with an easy fix.

Up date; I did a quick check on the bulbs from the factory HL and found the pass. side worked in the driver's side. So I then checked the fuse and it was blown. I replaced the factory headlight assemblies and then tried the lights and they worked. What I found on the pass. side SPEC-D 'bulb' was loose in the housing, and able to move side to side. That is why it worked off & on. You can also see some dis-coloration due to some arcing because of the movement, probably why the fuse blew. In the images attached, you can see how far the connection moves to the right and left while seated in the housing. The driver's side does NOT move like this, so this is deff. the issue. My next step is to contact SPEC-D and see what they will do for me. Here's hoping. HL1.jpgHL2.jpgHL3.jpg

Any way you could tighten it if you think? That is if they don't replace the defective one. Hoping for you as well.

That is my last resort. They do not look too flexible and, they have already blown a fuse, so there may be something deeper to the problem, something like a short in the wiring.

Odds are you have better optics bone stock, those spyder/ebay/spec d projectors can be pretty bad.
I honestly think your better off leaving the stockers on the truck.

I agree. It is more of a nostalgia kind-a thing. He purchased them for the truck before I purchased the truck from him. He is in the Army at his duty station and I hate to tell him the expensive lights he purchased don't work. I just hope SPEC-D does something besides ignore me. They do have a FB page.

In that case, if u get new ones for that purpose, run a bead of ge silicone ii in between the 2 housing halves and push the silicone into that channel with some nitrile gloves, or take a bit of doubled up plastic bag and use that over ur finger and press the silicone into the gap.
This will help reduce the fogging that happens to alot of these when it rains. It actually happens to many aftermarket housings.
This fix wont be noticable unless looking for it.

    Thanks for the tip I.C.

I have contacted Spec-d through their FB page. They were responsive and helpful, giving me a contact number. After a call and a couple of transfers They are sending me a replacement unit. Once I get that I'll add the silicone bead to each side and have them professionally wired in. There are a bunch of LED's that need to be hooked into the wiring, along with fogs lights my son also purchased.I don't want to start a fire in a truck I just had painted. ( getting done as I type )

Its best to let the silicone offgas for a few hours with all bulbs removed from the lights. You dont want a haze on your lenses from offgassing.

    Hope it all works out.
