Do a weight comparison. Yeah it will imo but not sure how much. What size are you coming from?

I have those on my v6. I have the C rated versions. The weight of the stock OR wheels and tires is nearly identical to the wheel tire combo,I have now so there was no change in power or mpg.

I know that but the point and comparison is still valid. If he is moving to a wheel tire combo that is the equiv weight, then duh, no power loss.

If on the other hand he's adding 20 pounds per wheel, guess what? Won't matter if it's the 2.7 or 3.5. There is gonna be some loss.

You're assuming he's going with your EXACT setup. There are so many 265/70/17 that AREN'T C rated. And his added weight will be way more different than in your higher powered engine.

here is what i came up with:

stock steel wheels 16" = 32 lbs (google search)
stock tires 245 hancooks = 32 lbs also (tirerack)
so total of 64 lbs stock

    looking at:
    mb wheels 17" = 24 lbs
    continetial tires = 42 lbs
total would be = 66 lbs

so would only gain 2 lbs by my research, just curious if the extra 1" dia tire will effect anything?

Might notice a little difference but that's not much weight! I personally wouldn't worry to much with your specs posted
