Looks like a lot of space for a winch plate. Then just cut a hole for the fairlead. Shouldn't be too hard. Maybe cut some other holes to make it look even cooler :notsure: I wish I was able to weld in a neat and clean way. My welds are messy but seem to hold. Welding is something I want to learn how to do better.

Nothing on my truck is "just for looks." Everything serves a purpose. Aside from the awning, which I'll likely never bring on a day or weekend run again.

No offense intended on the just for looks. I have some “bling” on my Taco like the decals and stickers. I have been scouting out winches for months and finally realized there was so much discussion like most things I just couldn’t figure it out, so you are good to ask up. I find most things have a few strong love its and a few strong hate its, with most in the middle. There was a time when “made in Japan” meant “crap”, but they seamed to establish society wide improvement philosophies that completely reversed that. My experience with “made in China” has been not so good. Makes sense, most can’t afford them themselves so they never see the value in the products nor why crap doesn’t matter. One post above described how “each time he had a problem it was fixed”. I don’t like “problems” in the first place. I’d be very interested in knowing how this works out because at that price if it’s reliable it’s a steal.

No offense taken; I jumped the gun on that. And I understand your apprehension about buying something other than a Warn product. I've had a Warn 2500ci on my Kawasaki Brute Force since 2007 and it has never failed me, whether in plowing the driveway or pulling a side-by-side out of 3' of mud. The difference is, that winch was free with purchase of the quad. Now that it comes to actually buying one, $1k is a hard pill to swallow. Hence why I'm likely going to pull the trigger on the Smittybilt.

Sounds like you're having the same battle I did right before I ordered it. Analysis paralysis! Once I clicked order i felt better.

Just got mine on today, and...... Its a winch lol, havent put it under load yet. My only problem is the fairlead wont mount up properly on the ARB bumper, really difficult for me to type out, pictures would help but I have none.

You need an offset hawse fairlead. Factor 55, slee off-road, Southeast overland, custom splice are companies that make them.

Dang. I pulled the trigger anyways. I guess having a winch is better then not having a winch.
