Judging by the picture, it appears to be a ‘17 Pro grille as it doesn’t have the clear plastic overlay for the tss component (beneath TOYOTA emblem) as can be seen on the bellow pictured ‘18 Pro. It is otherwise the same.

No that's just how it fits. You can only see it in the right light at the right angle. His pic shows it from the worst angle. A buddy pointed it out on my pro a while back and I wish he hadn't of.. I see it all the time now lol.

I noticed when building a 2018 on the website, by adding the black leather, it gives an orange ring around the dash. Is this a mistake on the website, or do they all come with this? I would assume no. It didn't matter which exterior color I selected.

I also notice when building on the site, it doesn't allow me to add the Premium package and the technology package. It's one or the other. Is that a mistake?

Except after you drive it 4 years, the steering will be loose, the doors won't be sealed tight and it will have rattles galore. My entire family only buys Ford or Chevy. Impressive the day they come home, not so much years later. My 2005 Tacoma still has an airtight seal, no rattles and drives the same as when I brought it home.

There is no difference between the 17 and 18 as of now. So the grille part number is still PT278-35170

The only thing that might alter this is if Toyota adds "safety sense" to the Tacoma, in which case the sensor is built into the Toyota emblem like they are on the new 2018 Tundras.

Technically dealerships arent supposed to lift any of the new Tundras because the leveling kits and lifts alter the parameters of toytas new safety sense. That being said, most people who buy dont care, they just turn the safety sense off and then lift the truck. I can only assume if the new 2018 tacoms some with toyota safety sense, that it is integrated with the factory grille and thats why a dealerships might tell you the 17' grille wont fit an 18'. It will, but your safety sense wont work and they will likely try to voice your warranty.

Hopefully that kind of answers the question at hand. Is the grille the same? YES. Will it fit an 18, YES. If the vehicle comes with safety sense and the sensor is built into the grille can you install a pro grille anyways, YES... but youll lose the functionality of your safety sense features.

I did. It didn't appear the rtca and a few other things were in the premium package. Only in the tech package. The RTCA has helped me several times in parking lots on my wife's vehicle. I definitely want it in all of my future cars.

    that's the issue. if
if you are not picking the v6 4x4, you are restricted to the packages available to pick. if you get the manual and/or 4x2 you get the lower end packages, if you pick the v6 4x4 you get the higher end package that have both.

How come the TSS would not work on a PRO grill when the TRD PROs have TSS??

Hasn't it already been confirmed that 2018s have Safety Sense? I see a lot of IF in this statement.
