As a former valet, I always hated when people did this. We sometimes had plastic bags (think the size of a $20 bag of the sticky icky) and we'd stick your ticket and fob in there. It makes things inconvenient though for sure.

Yes after your outside with the door closed you can lock it through the open window with the door panel lock switch. Then you can use the auto up feaure on the same inner door panel to roll it up. Dangerous though as far as theft goes . I just get in and wait till it defrosts. But a simple solution to the problem . I live in the country in Georgia and I won't do it.

When I think of things like that I imagine if I were the one doing the job and how I'd feel. I'd pretty much just toss that key in anyplace it'll hold and hopefully it'll be there when owner comes. It's far easier to lose just the fob without any keys or even a ring to help hang it up. Just my opinion though. I'm sure many feel the valet will ransack their cars for money.

I keep that extra normal key you get when purchased on my key chain for just that reason.

But really...why does one need to do this?

I'm guessing this is to let it warm up? Best way to warm it up is driving. Or get a block heater like I did.
in -30C if I'm plugged in for 30min before starting it (have it on a timer) by the time I drive to the end of my street (10 houses) the water temp is already at 60C and I have heat.

    scrape it off quick
and yes you can let it warm up during that time. I don't see why you would need to turn it on and lock it to leave it running while you go rub one out before going to work lol.

I don't worry about that up here in the GWN, but in Hog Town, I'd be locking the truck if I went back into the house to help my old Mother out to the truck..!! hehe
