I have the Pioneer Z110bt HU with the HD radio module. It looks like when you have the HD radio you lose the description for the pre sets. Does anyone have this setup with the same problem. I talked to a audio install person and he told me this was a known problem to Pioneer. They are supposed to be working on a fix. I'm thinmking about pulling the module out and going back to regular AM/FM radio. Another option would be to switch out the HD module for XM radio. I'm not keen on paying a monthly subscription for XM.
I also noticed you cannot go from AM to FM and back to AM. With HD if you are in AM then go to FM to get back to AM you have to page through FM2, FM3 then you get to AM. Don't like this either.
If anyone have this HU with HD I would like to know what you like/dislike.

I have had the AVICZ110BT for about two weeks and I am very happy with it. I noticed the lack of description on HD presets, but they do seem to store ok. Never tried listening to AM so never noticed the AM to FM problem. I usually listen only to XM and love the way it handles the ipod, best of any Pioneer HU I have had to date. Bluetooth syncs perfectly with the Iphone. Dislikes are the voice recognition is poor (almost useless) and the nav system is not as flexible as the Tom-Toms I have had.

I love the Z110BT, no problems, everything works great. The HD was a little let down. Never had NAV before so I have no issues with this one. Ignorance is bliss I guess. The MP3 and Ipod I think are great also.

The z110bt is amazing. Rhe voice recognition works flawlessly for me. Most of the issues that I was having initially were user error.

I am looking into the same unit.
How well does the iPhone work with this unit?
Is the OEM blutooth steeering wheel controls needed?
I have the steering wheel controls for the radio, is the adapter/converter needed?
Was it a DIY install or a shop?

I had Sirius radio in my dakota but stopped the subscription. I miss it, the variety and the programming and with many music stations commercial free, to me it was worth it. FWIW i will be getting it again.

I've had the Z110BT for a few months now and I'm happy with it. The only issues I have with it is the voice recognition, it takes forever to build the VR library everytime I hook up my iphone and the VR is not intuitive at all. I only use it in the Nav mode.

As far as the descriptions for the HD presets, they do seem to store ok so I never gave it much thought. I did notice the issue you mentioned about switching be AM and FM but I rarely listen to AM so it wasn't a big deal for me.

As far as bluetooth goes, it works great with the iphone. Syncs up everytime and I have not had an issue making or receiving calls. You don't need the OEM Bluetooth steering wheel controls (I don't have them).

Don't want to hijack the thread but here's the quick answer: You will need a steering wheel control interface to use the radio controls. There are plenty of threads on this subject. I used the PAC and it works great.

I say DIY, again there are plenty of threads that have pics and step by step instructions on this site. The hardest part for me was the steering wheel interface. Keep in mind that if you take it to a shop, they may not be willing to bypass the parking brake sensor.

I don't have the IPHONE, I have the Dare and it works perfectly. I have no problem with the VR. I had it installed and they hooked up the steering wheel controls and they work great also. The shop hooked up the bypass for me. Eveything worked without any problems right out of the box. The IPOD and MP3 player works nice. The only problem I found was I lost the preset list with HD. I talked to Pioneer about this and their tech told me on some in-dash receivers this does happen. It is not a malfunction, he told me it was programmed that way. I told him I liked the preset listing I got with the am/fm and was going to pull out the HD module. I'm going to swap it out for either XM or Sirius radio.I have been working my way through the manual and today I finally found how to turn on the rear view camera as I drive down the road. It is pretty slick if you are pulling a trailer and want to see what is going on back there.
I have read the threads on how easy it is to install, but I think I got a good price on everything with the install. It took them about 1 hour for the install, could not believe how quick it went. It is easy when you know what you are doing.

I found a coupon for XM radio, $77 for the first year, so I probably will go with that instead of Sirius.
I am very happy with the Pioneer and don't regret not going with Kenwood. I tested both out at the Audio shop and like the Pioneer. The Pioneer booted up faster and I liked that.

Swapped out the HD module for the XM module. Activated with the ZWINBACK coupon and got the first yesr for $77. Half the price for a full year subscription. Much happier with the XM, did not like the HD and how you had to page through the FM to get to the AM. Not a smooth process and no presets for HD.
