Got my pre-order in. I have a question for you guys, is anyone experiencing better MPG with the tune? Or is everyone losing MPG with the tune?

I think it can go either way, depending on your driving style and if it's flat or hilly in your area. My mileage leans toward "better" with the tune. Especially if I don't use cruise control. It's flat here in Southeast Louisiana, except for the bridges.

Let's say my driving style is exactly the same before and after the tune (which it will, I'm just buying the tune for the more linear power delivery and gas pedal feel), I wonder if the tune will increase, decrease or keep MPG the same.

I loaded a new tune last night and went with 1.02C shift C. I like the shorter first gear, and it reminded me how awesome this tune is! BUT it also reminded me how much the truck had reverted back after 650 miles or so on the initial flash. It was starting to hunt and shift differently as it learned.

Im not babying the truck as much this go around to see if it "learns" differently. Hopefully I wont have to load a new tune every 500 miles.

Mine dropped a bit, but I'd like to blame it on "winter gas" and colder temps here in Kansas. Those events happened shortly after I first loaded the tune. So I'd say its probably about the same. My MPGs werent good when stock, modded prior to tune, or post tune. So I'm not the best to answer that question.

I live in hilly TN, about the same mpg with shift A about 2 lower with shift C but all versions of the tune have achieved the more linear power delivery and predictable pedal feel on the throttle. I haven’t felt that dead throttle feeling in months and I hope I never do!

There is a hesitation when I go to WOT from being stopped -- this happened in both stock tune and hasn't changed with the OV tune. It is as if the truck thinks it wants to start out in 2nd, and when I go WOT, it starts to move and there is a lurch when it drops down to 1st (I am guessing that it is caused by a gear shift, but might be something else in the engine.) Anybody else have this and/or an explanation for it? Thx.

Sounds like a shift A tune? That went away for me with shift C

You're right, I'm on Shift A. I will try Shift C and report back. Thanks!

I'm still on Shift-A. It was great at first, but then started reverting to old nasty habits at about 300 miles. At about 700 miles I completely quit using Cruise Control, and quit "trying" to drive economically. Now at around 1000 miles since loading the tune it seems that the performance (read SHIFTING) has improved, and the gas mileage has increased again.

I tried , through several tanks, different driving styles and found that getting up to speed quickly actually gave me better fuel economy as opposed to grandma style driving. Im running shift map A for over 2k miles now and only complaint is the harsh 1st gear downshift while in traffic.

Only difference after a few thousand miles on C-C is that it likes to now change down too many gears when I give it gas to get around someone, what it could have done it 3rd it thinks 2nd is necessary and ends up revving high. This is obviously a learning thing. Perhaps a re-flash will resolve.

A reflash will for sure. Ive been testing out the more aggressive accelerating on my most recent reflash and so far, im getting good enough mpgs for me. Im hoping it hold up. OP did mention once the 4.0L calibration is out, he would be working on the next AT update. Ive been lurking that thread and I believe that release is happening now or imminent so we should see something soon i bet. Im so glad OP got a taco to test with himself. I bet we get a mega update next :)

    Hello,

Quick question, today I was jumping a guys car so I had my hood open. I noticed when the truck idles it makes kind of a fluttering sound? Anyone else notice this, is it normal? Maybe part of the injection?

    Thanks

Totally normal. This is the injector cleaning cycle the engine goes into periodically at idle.
