Hey ya'll. New and first time Taco owner here. I moved from one great Toyota (the FJ) to the Taco. I loved the FJ, zero regrets owning one however prior to it I had two generations of the Silverado 1500. There are things I missed about not having a truck but I didn't want to move back into a full sized one. The FJ definitely presented a big challenge from a storage capacity standpoint and I won't miss that. The current trade-in value of the FJ's is pretty insane and that alone pushed me into a new vehicle. I basically drove it for close to 6 years for just $10k!

With the help of that good trade-in money I decided to go all out and get the TRD Pro (in automatic). I'm not very mechanical or much of an after market guy so the TRD Pro is right straight from stock for what I wanted. I will definitely add rock sliders at some point and maybe a bed cage also.

So far I'm loving it! There are some things I'm not super pleased with like the over active shifting but I was prepared for this from lurking the forum for a while, seemed like a common complaint. I'm also getting crap MPG on the highway...actually worse than city. My highway mpg is only 18.5 or even worse so. Now all that highway driving has been in the foothills and mountains of North Carolina so that's a factor. My average overall mileage is still ending up around 20mpg by the end of a tank but my city miles are hills also (albeit more rural than what you would call city). I have some sluggish feeling spots in acceleration, not sure if that's expected but maybe there is something there my Toyota mechanic will find. I don't want to whine about my highway MPG too much though as I've only driven the truck about 1000 miles so far and I know that a lot of the issue could be the driver needing to learn the vehicle/pedal...it's definitely a lot different feeling than the FJ.

Enough blabbering though, here's a pic of my new ride as well as the old FJ.

Welcome! I think you'll love the switch. Only recommendation on the Pro if you plan to take it off road (aside from sliders) is to get better tires. Other than that, enjoy the truck!
