    Hello All,

I am new to the forum and I need some advice. I have a 2007, 4.0 liter, V6, 4X4 Taco. It only has about 56,000 miles. The clutch pedal started not returning after depressing it, and now the gears are not going in as smooth. Is it too soon with the low miles to be needing a new clutch? I wish I was as mechanically savvy as most of y'all. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Crow

The clutch uses hydraulics and the fluid is DOT 3 brake fluid. The first thing I would try is flushing/bleeding the clutch hydraulic system. Does yours have a separate reservoir for just the clutch? Some do some don't so make sure you know just where brake fluid is added for the clutch system. If your truck has gone 10yrs without the brake fluid being renewed it may have considerable moisture in the fluid. If that does not correct the problem focus on both the master cylinder and slave cylinder to determine if there is possibly an internal leak in the piston seals. Poor shifting is to be expected in your case and hard on the transmission.

Thanks Taco'09. I will check on those options to avoid unnecessary expenses.
