For an accurate shot at a target, maybe, but it's got more than enough velocity to carry it that far if he just lobbed one off into the dark.

Even an expert would not attempt to kill a deer at 200 yards. Not even in broad daylight.

 

Guarantee that I could lob a .357 (which are actually .38 caliber, dumb journalist person) 200 yards, and I'm not an expert marksman. The story sounds like this idiot was just launching shots off into the dark and this lady was unlucky enough to catch one. If it was past legal hunting hours there's no way that he could see the 200 yards to actually take an aimed shot.

Could be, I suppose. I'd rather just whack my hand with a framing hammer than fire that off, but different strokes for different folks.

 

Thinking the same thing, I can hit something at 200 yards with my Sig .357 barrel. Well maybe one or two out of 10 rounds, but I see no mention that it was a revolver. As previous stated, lot of assumptions going on.
