I've been lucky to have snow and a deer drag which makes it easy. Super easy to spot the blood trail too.
I thought about a cart. Anyone have any experience with them in the thick woods? Over logs, around trees, through brush? I've seen some that basically have mountain bike wheels and look pretty agile.

be hard to put the animal on that by yourself. good idea with the brakes though..
Ive used one like this. It works good on flat land but helps to have two people going up a hill since it doesnt have brakes it tends to want to go back down hill...can get hung up on logs but its a lot easier than dragging a deer.

I've been using the Cabela's model for about 10 years since i had my shoulder rebuilt.
    Works as advertised.
Looked on their site and I don't see it any more, but looks similar to the one above at Sportsman guide.
Get metal wheels instead of the plastic ones as a friend's plastic wheels broke at the worst time.
They roll over small logs and rocks and with a little work , goes over some bigger stuff.

I like to get the heavy end of the animal towards me, as I'd rather be "tongue heavy" when dragging than the other way around.
    Old pic....

I am always on the lookout for a 6.5X57 Stutzen. I've found a few, but always over my budget. One day...

Any of you that diy butcher have a suggestion on a meat grinder? The one that broke on me worked good as long as there was no silver skin so trimmin was both time consuming and pretty wasteful at the end of the day. I found this one and it has good reviews but it didnt have many from deer hunters that i saw. I think my old one was maybe 1300 watts so thats a pretty big step up to 2000 and a 2.6 hp motor is like a push mower right haha?

For $500 i want it to grind hide, tendons, and bone haha. I usually only work up 2 or 3 a year, it would take a few years of just dropping the hams off at a processor at ~$1 a lb to getting close to breakin even. I know i prolly sound like the guy looking at rough country lifts, but i was hoping to stay under $200 anyway. But i wouldnt mind knowing the specs on urs for comparison

I burned up a cheap one years ago so I went middle ground. It’s lasted for years now. Feeder is going off so can’t chase down which one I have at the moment but it’s a LEM brand. I take care of it and oil it with spray Pam olive oil before storage. You can grind better with the meat good and cold but not frozen.

Yeah my meat usually comes straight off of salted ice. after a rinse and a trim, it goes in the grinder still pretty dang cold.

I got one of these and it works great for deer, elk and moose. It did have a little trouble with a bear but I could have had the head to loose or something because it took a while to get through the bear (It did go through the first grind ok, just the second was a little hard to package ground). I dont remove all the silver skin, just the major pieces of tendon and the thickest parts of the silver skin by the hocks. I cut in big chunks and usually if it fits in the feed tube it will go through the grinder. Two grinds and about 35lbs and packaging took me about an hour or so. The first grind is quick...

    Very nice. I have a 375 h&h mark x ... one of my favorite rifles .

The fullstock guns have always intrigued me , so I recently picked this up in 9.3x62
