You should be fine clean with alcohol and take a blow dryer and heat up the emblems a little and just warm everything up a bit and install they stick ready well and you shouldn't have any problem with them coming off

Was also debating between plasti-dipping and this set which I assume to be the same on eBay for the same price. On the one hand I like the idea of doing such a personal and somewhat laborious task to my baby, especially with how forgiving plasti-dip is, but also want the best for her by getting her high quality overlays. I guess I could just plasti-dip first and see how I like it?

You can always try plasti-dip first, and then just remove it and get the badge overlays if you don't like how it turns out. Honestly, I think you can get just about as good of quality from the plasti-dip as you can from the overlay kits for much less $$, unless you're going for one of the non-matte-black kits (which you can't get with plastidip).

Removed badge with braided fishing line; scuffed with scotchbrite pad; cleaned with solvent; put new doubleface tape;3 coats adhesion promoter; 3 coats black satin;3 coats clear satin. Found the black decal on ebay.

Removed and painted mine. I used the Krylon flat black (5 coats, plenty of drying time). Matches the fender flares perfect and has held up great through washing etc. Glad I did it!

Didn't note any difference. Stock length I believe 22", so is this one.

Nice. The only difference I noticed, is that the eBay is just the lettering and the stock is one piece on each side. Is that true? I’m just guessing from the pics on eBay that I didn’t believe it was one solid piece. Not that that part matters. I was more just curious about quality and size etc. Thanks for the help.

The company that sells the decals is out of Puerto Rico. Cant remember the name. It was the only one I could find with 22". Everyone else was 18". Just did a search for black TRD 4X4 22". Its one piece.

Wasn't a fan of the red. I liked the black right away. Good hunting.

Are these decals a true decal that you apply using water or do they have a adhesive backing that sticks to the surface

not sure what a "true decal " is. you can install either way. water gives you working time. I installed without, using hinge method. was easy. lots of tutorials out there.

Are they type of decal that you spray water to the surface of the truck then apply decal and move into position then once it drys it's set.

How do you get the nameplates to stick back on with 3m tape? How can you get it cut out perfectly?

Patience. I used a utility knife to trim the tape short of the outside edge so you dont see the tape from the front. 10 minutes. Im sure you can find a 3M double face tape how to video somewhere. Its really not that hard. send a pm if you need to.
