I really can’t believe people charge so much for a stipple job. I mean I get time is money but damn it’s expensive.

I mean $350 to stipple a glock is crazy. $500 is even crazier !

How do people actually pay that thinking it’s ok.

I’m going to just try to do mine myself . If I mess it up then I’ll semd it to a pro. Until then let’s see if I can save a few bucks.

You're kidding, right? People pay that kind of coin for a stipple job? It's a matter of patience and carefulness. I stippled my old Shield using a soldering iron and it turned out great. Shop that I traded it into asked what outfit I had do my stippling. Uh...

If you can do it, great. There are a lot of dudes out there without the time nor patience and the guys whom charge that much, generally charge that much because they are VERY good at what they do. As the Joker from the Dark Knight said, "If you're good at something, never do it for free."

Yeah. You can get Glock frames for $50 if you know where to look so try it yourself and if you have to bail, bail. I haven’t stippled my Glock but I have removed the finger grooves, flattened the back strap and undercut the trigger guard.

I did stipple my Shield and it turned out fine.

Yes, $500 for a stipple job is a little excessive. Granted some do phenomenal work, others not so much.

I just don’t see the point in spending $500 on stipple work for a $400 gun.

But hey, people are paying, so more power to the guys.

At that price, it’s probably more than a stippling job. That sounds like a grip reduction or chop, removing finger grooves, undercutting triggerguard, scalloping around mag release, extending the beaver tail, magwell work, etc.

A point of concern when stippling, and doing grip work, polymer guns is if too much material is removed/modified, you can cause problems. Too firm a grip can compress a compromised grip and prevent mags from dropping freely.

Boresight Solutions is widely considered the best in the business with frame work. This is everything that is done for the duty series pkg, $400.

Gun modifications are subjective anyways, I have north of $2,000 into my Glock with the suppressor. My next pistol is going to be a STI 2011 which my cost is $2,500 so it’s more about personal preference than anything. It’s only money and you’ll make more tomorrow!! Life’s too short to have boring hobbies.

image.jpg image.jpg My daily is the 19 with T1, SF X300U, Raven Magwell, Atom Slide.

The tan Atom slide is a 17 to 19 chop, minor grip reduction, finger grooves removed, carry stipple, trigger guard undercut, and index point stipple. Frame work was done by ZEV. Also has the ZEV duty trigger.

The RDS’s on top of guns are great at further distance. I don’t think they are much faster, if at all, at shorter ranges.

You have to spend time changing your presentation too...it’s a bit different.

With good fundamentals, and an RDS, 100yrds 1/4 steel isn’t very difficult.

The RDS’s take a beating on a pistol slide though. Usable irons should still be on the gun.

Those damn 2011 mags are so freaking expensive! I don’t know if it still needs to be done, but even after spending $80 on a mag, people were paying more to get the mags “tuned”/running properly.

The SVI’s and TRIARC’s are pretty nice double stacks too.

I feel like it’s very user friendly, it doesn’t have any crazy slide cuts or a $600 optic. It’s really just frame work, a awesome trigger and a good barrel. The sights are great and with the IR laser it’s a blast to shoot under Night vision. I’m no expert tactical shooter but I get the job done at the ranch hunting hogs and other pesky creatures. The barrel and trigger made the biggest improvements for me.

Yes, with NOD’s, RDS’s & IR Illum, or laser, have no substitute!
