Done and done. My Father's Day present was hiding from my kids long enough to do this mod.

I was a bit delayed, I had to reorder the parts. The 50 pound beast I decided to share my house with (Portuguese Water Dog) decided that the breather was just a delicious snack. Never a dull moment.

Thanks again for the write up

Does this need to be done on the transfer case? Also, i have a 2007 Tacoma. Would the parts be the same? Are there any temperature concerns with the hose used? Thanks

I think the only Toyota fail was the rear diff. Unless you plan on being two feet deep in water often, you should be good... If you are in water a lot, maybe seek mods for the rear locker (if you have an Off Road TRD) and any other stuff that doesn't have an extended breather but needs one.
Yes, the rear diff is the same on all Second Gens except 2005-2008 Sport TRDs (which internally have a limited slip). My breather hose is rubber and it is still fine (I think) after 7 years. Just leave slack for axle movement.

What about the front doesn't have a breather too

Here's where my breathers go. Still have to get 3 more from the top of the transmission over the the diff breather.

Yes, the front has a breather, otherwise we would HAVE to add one there, too! In fact, we are USING the same type breather for this back diff mod. I thought that was all explained in my first post in this thread? We here on Tacoma World won't let you fail, even if Toyota does (with the rear diff not having a breather).

If I have the differential weeping issue, will having done this mod likely have an impact on the dealership honoring the warranty (not on recall because it is 2017 OR). Thanks in advance.

Very nicely done. I think the sintered filter is the way to go. Where did you source the parts?
