It seems like waiting for hood swaps will take forever so I found this replacement sport hood online for a decent price and I am wondering if anybody has bought any of these, maybe the quality is not that bad.

There is also a shop near Atlanta that offered a similar replacement for almost the same price but I am still considering it.

As for the painting, I have a friend that does really nice professional resurfacing(for countertops and bathtubs) and has a graco hvlp kit kinda similar to this one but not the exact model, would this yield good results or would a bodyshop be able to perform it much better? I am not sure what kind of equipment is used by professional automotive painting.

This. You get what you pay for. Unless you're okay with the results. Maybe white isn't as noticeable but others you could probably tell, and I'm anal about mismatching paint.

Getting the correct paint and skill won't be a problem, my doubt was mostly on the type of machine that is regularly used for bodywork painting in vehicles.

Asked around and apparently HVLP is indeed what is normally used and this is a high end machine we have but I'm sure there is more to it than that due to the specs of the machine and different adjustments that you can make.

Leaning towards a bodyshop but I have read about others doing a great finish with lesser tools, which is why I wondered if anyone has attempted anything with an HVLP here:D

Go with the body shop and not be disappointed, imho.
There is a huge difference between that hlvp turbine and a real sata/iwata gun. I own all of them and wouldn't spray with the graco unless it was an emergency. Might spray a bumper with it if the compressor was down.
Not to mention a body shop would spray in a booth to reduce dust/nib contaminants.
