Hey everyone im a new taco owner! I got a 02 2wd single cab swb auto taco! When I bought it the odometer wasn't working along with a few other things but now it is and bought it with 386xxx and no telling how much it was drove stuck and then when I bought it I drove it before I was able to fixing it but it has been good so far! Hope I don't get to anyone and hope everyone reads this and helps me get it running smooth! So far I've had to replace the radiator, spark plugs, one bad coil pack, valve cover gasket, pcv valve (which I think fixed odometer), air filter, fuel filter(anyone know what the sensor up to the left of fuel filter is) (broke it during install:( door handle broke just fixed it today planning on spraying roof due to rust hood hasn't rusted yet but fading quick. Just wondering how reliable they are for driving long distance ESP this one with almost 400k miles cool truck maybe I should ask in another section but let me know what y'all think!!!!

Thanks boogie really like my yota just trying to keep it cheap and reliable as I won't be doing any off-roading since it's only 2wd is there a way to lift it without buying coilovers and shocks? And how any idea on how much it needs lifted in the front ?

Odnaren idk if that means I need to read or have my own opinion on what to do with the truck but words would have been cool I've been doing my research just trying to ask around for advice with people that have already done lift/lower.... there is to much stuff on here and hard bc it's kinda not categorized the best, I came from owning 2 rsxs and a avid clubrsx forum site so any insight is appreacated...

Would be cool to see more categorys such as 1st gen base: 1st gen pre runner : 1st gen xtracab : 2wd 4wd etc etc etc bc if you click on first gen there are so many different models and on the suspension page it's mainly for off-road and 4x4 hard to find stuff on the reg cab 2wd

not really have been to busy and it's my daily so don't really have tools or means of trying or have nor extra money to dump into the truck right now. I plan to keep it factory for the weight ratio because I do use the bed to haul stuff and it levels out ... I guess it's a eye sore maybe load your bed down with some small heavy stuff lol idk but I heard throwing some 3' lowering blocks from autozone for like 30 bucks and flipping u bolts works not sure how realiaible or def would find someone who knows what there doing ?

    No.

Then the plan to leave it alone is just fine.

You are doing the right things by doing 'fix broke' stuff. Then move on to doing things that are normally time/mileage related preventative maintenance. That will both take a while and cost a few bucks.

Have you pulled wheels/inspected, cleaned, serviced brakes as needed.

Have you changed ALL fluids? Diff, trans, engine, coolant, brake, power steering?

Examine all coolant hoses. Unless you see new ones, replacing all of them isn't a bad idea. Especially if you expect to road trip.

Has the front suspension been examined and worn out bits replaced? A proper alignment done?

Any clue when/if I timing belt was ever done?

Don't fret over looking cool. Looking cool parked by the side of the road broken down is very uncool. Make it uber reliable first.

Most of all enjoy it, keep plugging at things, and it will start to come together for you.

We have a 5 lug forum. Pretty much all options are discussed there.
