PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DONT.

DONT BE THAT ASSHOLE. Dont be that guy who is blinding everyone with your shitty HID lights in stock projector housings just so you can look cool, yet have shittier headlight output vs stock.

    Don't do that.

    Do do this

I did HID's before and was considering LED's and then found the 100w H4.. Even with lifetime warranty you still gotta deal with ballast and bulbs going out and waiting on new ones to get shipped, writing & requesting replacement bulbs etc.. it sucks IMO and pissing off all traffic infront of you.

    I'm very happy with the 100W H4.

    Step by step for HID.
    Step 1. Buy HID
Step 2. Throw HID in garbage.
    Step 3. Ultimate headlight mod
Morons with HID lights get blinded by my led pods. Those fuckers deserve it.

Posts #2 to #5 are spot on.

Please don't run HIDs in a halogen housing.

If you want HIDs, get a proper projector kit (make sure to align them when done). Amazing light output, and a perfectly clean cutoff line.

Aw, come on now. Don't be so negative. How could anything with the following (promised) features be so bad?

    - 2,300,500 Lumens of glorious output (Yes, comrade!)
    - Precise 4,786k Color Temperature - Equal to the sun on Mercury (Or more likely the sun shining on an old Mercury)
    - 127 Year unlimited / full replacement warranty
    - Installs itself
    - No programming required
    - Bluetooth compatible
    - Smartphone app available (To do something or other)
    - Improves your sex life
    - Makes you irresistible to the opposite sex
    - Numerous other totally awesome things that I probably forgot or just don't want to even think about

Yea, I gotta get me some of that!

As the others have said, mixing ANY HID kit with stock halogens wont have favorable results for anyone as both systems were not intended for each other. Back in the day when HIDs were first coming out many did this and police and such weren't familiar yet with the problems they cause. Now a days, I wouldn't be surprised if your local po-po doesn't pull you over sooner than later if you don't have proper projetors to work with the HID kit.

That being said, I have projector lights that I retro'd myself and even made a build thread in my sig for my aftermarket ones. If you havnt researched at all yet, you will find the ebay ones that come with a projector in the light are made for halogen bulbs. To throw HIDs in that will give shitty results as I have found. This will lead you to wanting to retro your lights just to be better than halogen bulbs or scrap the HIDs all together. I can def help if you are interested in retroing as there isn't much to it as long as you know some basic guidelines in the heating of the lights which is what everyone is afraid of.

That being said, I cant really tell component wise with the vague descriptions of the kit if its worth it or not. I got morimoto HIDs for three reasons...
    • 2 year warranty on parts through TRS - the retrofit source (Yes they actually are the most competitively priced from ebay and Amazon AND they offer a TW discount!)
    • Modular parts, this means if a bulb dies...great simply order a new one, ballast is shot...order a new one instead of a whole new kit
    • Their products are rated for off-road use and can handle to an extent intense vibrations and have a good outer protective layering on their parts. I have soaked my truck completely with water and have soaked my kit probably 20 times due to off-road and with LT I hit stuff fast without any issue.
I know Morimotos are expensive, but the end result of HIDs to do right on these trucks arnt cheap to begin with unless you do the work. You could always go for the gamble with the $70 kit and depending on your driving style and if you mainly drive on street you could be perfectly fine. If off-roading and stuff is your game, morimoto is worth looking into. If you want some educated advice on this kit, might not be a bad idea to reach out to the retrofit source and see if they have an opinion on this kit as they do tons of installs and helped me through my experience in getting my lights set up.

Good luck with what you decide.
