OME coils with 5100s setup

Im running 885s in the front with 5100s now as opposed to just 5100s set all the way up and I really like the setup but my front end is slightly lower than before which I kind of expected. I know they say to run this setup with a spacer but I normally try to avoid spacers and blocks.. Is it okay to run the 885s with the 5100s on the first lift setting? not sure if thats enough to level it out but it should help some. Any advice is appreciated!!

 

I would look into 887 coils. A small spacer will not hurt anything. Most run a 1/4 spacer with that set up anyways.

 

@Bluegrass Taco went from 885s to 887s and only gained something like 1/4", so if you're wanting to really fine tune your setup, get a top plate spacer. Measurements are all approximations and aren't guarantees, so it's a lot easier to know what your end result is going to be, IMO, as opposed to throwing on another coil and seeing what happens.

 

887's on 5100's here, it actually sits perfectly level even though it doesn't look it.

 

Can we get someone to move this out of the marketplace and into a more appropriate location?

885's are 885X's. Didn't settle a lot (like X's are all about) Bumper, skids, sliders on, sway bar off, resulted in 160lb net gain. They have 64,000 miles on em. I lost 1/2" of lift. 887's did a couple thousand miles on the road, then 4 years on a shelf. I got back 1/4" of what I lost.

But you know what....? It rides and drives EXTREMELY good just the way it is. I'd like to see it 1/2" higher, but I won't. Leaving it right where it's at.

 

Thats a long bed? what was your lift gain? Did you get / need UCA's for alignment?

HOPEFULLY pulling the trigger on this myself soon, mine is a DCSB and don't want to spend the money on UCA's just yet. Don't want to extend past the 3" mark and fuck my tires prematurely.

 

OME 887's on 5100's up front with JBA Standard High Caster Arms and in the rear I have all ICON. ICON 2.0 Non Resi Shocks with an ICON 3 Leaf Progressive AAL.

 

I went with the Bilstein 5100's and Toytec front coils on mine to get 2.5", that's with 285/70R17's. Gives a nice ride, it's seems to be as smooth if not better than the stock setup.

 

I have bilsteins 5100 with 885x on the 1st setting, nothing to worry about. Its maybe just a tiny bit stiffer but hardly noticeable. People exaggerate that it needs to be at setting 0. I got a total lift of 2 1/2 inches after it settled.

Yes 285/60/18 no rubbing, I was running these tires before the lift.

This was from Saturday, I ordered the wrong dang center caps and had to leave it like that for a few days before I could get the right ones and it drove me nuts driving it like that. I did have to remove the front mud flaps as it was rubbing to much, also removed the rear ones as it didn't look right to me with them on there. Will take a few more when the weather gets better.

I drove the truck several times before I had the lift put on and to be honest it rides as good if not better. The tire noise is not bad, I really like driving it. I like it better than the x2 '96 S-10 ZR2 & '03 S-10 ZR2 I had. I kinda wish I could have kept the mud flaps but you have to do what you have to do for the system to work properly. I still have to replace the clear plastic over the instrument cluster and put a ABS plastic rod to make a stop so I can use the Tundra TRD shift knob.

Yea the ride is better I feel after the suspension lift. Glad you like it. Yes the front mud flaps need to come off although on the rears I took 2 inches off just under the 4x4. They have not hit any rocks yet.
That may work for you if you want to keep them. your truck is looking good.
