You might remember me from "Deciding between a 2015 Tacoma or 2015 Silverado

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/deciding-between-a-2015-tacoma-or-2015-silverado.522000/

SO, since that point, i know the Tacoma is more me, plus i have been driving my 07 for 11 years.

Now comes the push - Spending $$

Here is the newer truck specs:

    2015 Tacoma Prerunner v6 4x2 TRD
    Locker
    Grey ext grey int
    looks like a 4x4
    19k miles
    electric plug in the back
    Power windows
    power locks
    access cab
    rubber mats
    fog lights
    hitch

    $22,884

    $24,441 with tax, tag, etc

    -$8500 for my Truck
    -----------
    $15,941 out of my pocket

Look to sell my car, was going to sell it anyway as i am not driving it. Might get $8 to 9k private party for it.

    OR Keep my -

    2007 Tacoma 2wd SR5 4cy
    120k miles
    Indigo Ink ext
    Grey Int
    Power windows
    power locks
    access cab
    rubber mats
    hitch

I feel like it has no power, only gain 1 or 2 mpg with the 4cy, Sits very low to the ground, BUT is paid for. I enjoyed driving the new one, it has 100k less miles.

REALLY on the fence about spending 16k, but really like the truck.

    Anyone want to donate thoughts?

New or newer is always more enticing. If you're getting a newer truck, some things to consider are how long you intend to keep it, usage, where you live and travel, requiring more room, etc...

Here's some examples: My cousin bought new a 2009 AC TRD OR 4x2. Now that he's married, he's considering a DC wanting more room and perhaps a 4x4 as now places he wants to go may require 4x4.

My sister purchased a 2010 4runner SR5 4x4 that seats 7. She has never used 4x4 by herself and rarely seat 7 yet in the case that she needs to seat that many and use 4x4, she is able to.

After 11 years, the 4x2 access cab is just fine for me, the hardest part is spending 16k

120k miles on your current ride is low. You don't need 4x4 (the locker would be nice though, but do you really need it?) . Plus it's paid off like you said. Unless you can't stand the 4cyl to the point you want to go 16k in debt over it, then I say you keep what you have

    I was looking at a 4x2 V6.

The thought process - sell the 4cy and car, get a newer truck that has more power, a 4x2 V6. Just not sure i want to shell out 16k for that experience.

I need to and will sell my car, locally as i just don't drive it much anymore.

Then i'd be left with my 4cy truck. I purchased the car as my truck was not inspiring to drive.

I wish i had spent the extra $2k when i purchased my truck in 2006 and got the V6, then i would have just driven it into the ground.

I'd say get what you want and can afford. Doesn't seem like you're happy with the 4cyl hence the car purchase.

$22,884 actually seems like a great deal for what you found as compared to the market where I am, the same specs go for $25-30K. Also, I'm willing to bet you most likely can talk them down from that price.

Yeah, the 4cy sitting low to the ground is a deal breaker. Trucks should never be that’s low. Get the 4x4 or a prerunner

I talked them down to that price, If i wait another 2+ weeks, they will drop it $500, maybe. Wait till Jan, maybe $1000 or someone else will take it.

The Bad: It's the right color, package, model, etc, 2013-15 model, etc. If i were to be tempted, this would be it.

Not many of US like spending $$, that's all

    I like that it looks like a 4x4, but is a 4x2.

Fuck it, life is short. Get it if it makes you happy. If you do go to get it, I'm pretty sure they will give in price some. $500 won't prevent them from selling it to you then and there.

I’m sure this is why 95% of people are in debt and are day to day with bills, and stuck working for The Man.

OP, I hear ya in terms of spending that much money, so it’s good you are thinking about it. That being said, that is a good price for that truck.

I have a 2010 prerunner TRD sport that I bought in 2010 for $26k, and this past summer a dealership offered me $23k tradein for it when I went to have my LCA replaced. Not bad for 7 years. So they do hold their value, and they are hard to find.

All within reason of course. That's usually a given and that's why my previous post said get what they can afford since they weren't happy with what they had.

Luckily, i have the $$. No debt to take, i just don't like spending $$. If i can sell the car for $9,000, trade in the truck and get $8500, I invest $7,000 into the new truck, Yeah that's worth it!

I am driving this until it dies OR Elon Musk makes an Electric Tacoma

    Still hate spending

Tacoma market is hot that's why dealers usually don't worry about not being able to move them. New or used, they rarely stay on the lot for too long.
