Anyone else have their exterior door handle stick when it's cold out? I pull the handle to open the door and it just stays out, until you push it in.

It's starting to happen to me again because temps are dropping fast here in New England. Dealer told me they couldn't do anything unless I showed them, but they haven't seen another truck do it. Not sure if I should lubricate or file something down or what.

I read the title and thought sticky, as in there was some unknown substance all over the handle.

Could be... In that case... try rubbing alcohol on a rag and clean the "sticky" handle.... Another issue solved in 3 minutes, eh..?

OH... The above instructions are assuming that your hand is clean and NOT sticky.... if it is, then clean hand..!!:rofl:

HAHA, let me clarify. The door handle itself is fine. The mechanism sticks in the "pulled" position when it is cold out.

I can see that it still has a bunch of lubricant on it from the factory. I don't think more lube will help necessarily. I think it's a material shrinkage problem because of the temperature...at least that's what my engineering analysis of the problem is.

Me too...especially out ice fishin' on really cold days.... BUT everything cums back to normal after warming up... hehe

Well, damn... if'n you got enuf lube in there, then what can be causing the problem..?? I'm still thinkin' it's a lube issue..... those things are made to very good close tolerances and should move in cold/hot conditions. Any chance there is any foreign material in there, like a tree leaf, or crap like that..?

    Too few to list.
Go to the dealership with the handle stuck in the out position. There's their proof.

My problem is by the time I get in the building, it's almost certainly warmed up enough that it doesn't stick. The service department where I go is fully indoors and heated.

Awesome! Will have to investigate and pursue this option. Did they have to do body work to match the color?

Also, totally random, but looks we spend time in the same neck of the woods...I am in Berlin, VT a few weekends a month or more, seeing family. Give me a shout if you see my truck!

Not sure on the body work. They got it done in a couple hours, so unless they painted it before calling me in for the service, it may have already been painted from the factory.

I live in Barre Town, so if I see you in town, I'll give you a wave. I usually throw a wave or peace sign to fellow Tacoma owners, but most have a blank stare on their faces, lol. It'll be hard to miss the an Orange Taco with a Pro Grill, so I'll keep an eye out.
