As bad as my radiator mount bolts were, i’m doing cab bolts just as a precaution. Buy once cry once, one and done kind of thing

I used that site to get the correct full length part numbers, put them into my parts search and got all of them cheaper than that site

 

So I took it back on the highway. Getting a vibration at 65-70. It's worse when I veer left. I routed around on here a bit & found wheel bearings &/or driveshaft alignment. Oh, & i do have, & have had forevers, the take off shudder.
I had looked up a while ago how to check the bearings (the tire check), however I did not know that this might not be enough of a check up.
As far as the driveshaft goes, the fact that I put on mounts where there were virtually none & flipped the position 2 mount may have had an affect. & it's good to finally see a name put to the "face".... The Takeoff Shudder....
The other thing that is still there, but to a lesser degree, is a passenger side wave, as if I need a strut. This is where this whole thing (mounts) started. The passenger side wave. The drivers side shock had snapped, so that one was an ICU type deal. I started to feel the passenger wave, so that one got done as well, but the wave persisted. Anywho, (just call me short story long Kristi) looking up this, looking up that checking this, checking that & finally one day my sis who is very heavy was in the truck & I took a left & there was a not so good grinding/rubbing sound. So I had a looksee & noticed how close the cab was to the frame & looked up what keeps the cab on, yet off, the frame & boila! So yeah, the wave is till there. Any ideas on that? Could it be connected with either the bearings or the driveshaft? & somehow the mounts did lessen the wave....
Now just to let you know, I have done very little to the truck. Brakes, the carrier bearing, an ignition coil, fuel filter, o2 downstream & change the oil every 5,000. Catalytic converter, shocks & a ball joint were all done by a mechanic. So no bushings, springs, belts, etc. I got it at 80,000 & it now has 215,000.... I am saying all this cuz ever since I joined this forum I have needed to confess because it is the first step to changing one's ways.... Money is an issue, but if I can get the help through here, there is hope. & money is an issue, so keeping up on the truck is the way to go, plus she deserves it. So that's one reason I am confessing. The other is that it might help you to know what has not been done, rather than what has.

 

"Take off shudder" might be axle wrap from tired leafs.

 

It is possible that the take off shudder might be axle wrap. Since you drive a gen 1, it wouldn't be my first suspect.

You def do a good job of making a short story long

I'm thinking you had driveline vibes that you were not noticing before, but the firmness of the bushings made more noticeable. Your drive line angles might need to be cancelled, or you might just need u joints. I'm not sure what you mean by "wave". Maybe you can elaborate more.

 

How choppy are the treads on your tires?

Are your U-joints greasable?

 

It's a gift .... Well, depends on who ya ask....

The wave - when I hit a bump while moving along, as opposed slow, stop & go, the passenger side keeps the bounce a pinch too long, like a sailboat going over waves. In other words, it doesn't pass the bounce the truck test when the passenger side is pushed down & released. It does not return to a standstill after one bounce.

 

Tires are pretty good & yes. the U-joints are greasable....

Well that's the weirdness that I put in my short story long (you were probably snoozing by the time i got around to this part) is that I have two new fronts already.

 

I believe I did the carrier bearing in may or June & greased them then.... or was that last year....
Um, yeah.... I can do that....

 

Have you taken a good look at the transmission mount? Or was that covered in your Epic? Use a pry bar and see if the the trans is no longer attached to the mount.

Engine mounts? Have someone rev the engine while you watch to see how far the engine torques to one side.

How are the leaf spring bushings?

 

Should be done every 5,000 miles at a minimum

 

Not to be a party pooper, but your truck needs it's own thread as this is past body mounts.
