I have seen 3 methods for pulling out the CO and putting new ones in. I've got a set of OME I want out so I can get my new Icon 2.5s in. From what I have gathered disconnecting the LCA is the simplest method but you have to be able to get your truck high enough off the ground to let the LCA swing down and get the strut slid up in there. Disconnecting the upper ball joint sounds like it is pretty straight forward but sometimes you get a stuck ball joint that requires a BFH and some cowboying to break free. The tie rod disconnect method looks real easy but you need to get a tie rod puller to keep from damaging the ball joint.

So what is the preferred method, especially when you want to get a big 2.5 up in there, it looks like the gap between the tie rod and the steering knuckle is pretty tight for a fat coilover?

My coilovers can be removed with just unbolting the tie rods.
