My question is why? When do you need folding mirrors? What for? Where? ..... Did I miss something - serious question, why does one need automatic/electric folding mirrors?

They’re great for city dwellers parking in tight spots.

My 50k Audi S5 didn’t come with them either. I had to spend $600 to order the oem European parts, install them, and change the vehicle software coding to activate them.

It is fucking cool to hit the lock button and watch them fold in tho.

I am on the "don't see a reason" side of this. :notsure:
For a full size truck it can help in tight parking situations, maybe off-road one could benefit on tight trails, assuming they don't want to use the mirror.

On my previous Taco I can honestly say that the mirrors were folded in a total of 3 times during my ownership.

    1. When a lawn company decided to park in the middle of a residential road causing my passenger mirror to threaten a mailbox, so it folded in.. Manually. Damned Fl lawn crews.:quickdraw:
    2. When someone at the Sam's club parking lot decided they needed to fold the drivers mirror in to get between my truck and someone else's vehicle while I was shopping.:argue:
    3. When I refinished the bumper valence, flairs, grill, and mirrors. Folded them in to be sure the bed liner paint had not locked up the joint.:D

To each his own. For me manual folding mirrors worked for the 3 times in the years I had the 04 don't see any reason I need auto folding on the 17.

I guess I must be one of the few corporate America workers where their company is incentivized by the government to make pretty much the entire parking lot “compact parking”. If it doesn’t make sense to you, why do you have to be so inquisitive? It’s not incredibly far fetched on a truck with Nav, sunroof, headed seats, dual climate control... etc. It seems like it’s not possible. Got it. Also understood most of you never have driven a full size or a 3/4 ton truck.

Seems like you shouldn't be driving that truck, you can't even read. Your parked where the compact cars are supposed to be. You qualify to be a real truck driver

To be clear, I have driven a LOT of trucks in my life. I am sure most TW members have as well.

Making assumptions because you do not agree with another's point of view only makes on of those parties look foolish. Please remember this is a forum where we can all share our opinions, views, help one another, buy, sell, and trade in an open forum.

While you consider something a necessity, there are others who do not.

I apologize if those of us who do't see a need for power folding mirrors stating our view offends you. :hattip:

Here we go lol. Did you read my post where nearly every spot at my office is compact parking...

    *you’re*

If you’re gonna hit me with the “you can’t even read”, at least get the grammar correct.

I didn’t ask “who here needs power folding mirrors?” I asked if it was possible to add it.

Did you ever have to park a fire truck in a compact space, because your firehouse gets tax breaks for making almost the entire parking lot “compact only”?

If you have an older garage with the smaller doors it's a lot more convenient to push a button and fold your mirrors so you can fit through the door than it is to fold them manually, since you have to get out and walk around the truck to fold the passenger side, then walk back around and get back into the truck and pull into the garage. And obviously do it all again in reverse when you pull back out of the garage the next day.

I have nothing but respect for any public servant. I just don’t see the relevance of driving a fire truck to this thread and my needs.

Because my needs are obviously different than most... I don’t see how that’s so hard to comprehend. I didn’t ask “who needs PF mirrors?” Did I though?
